2012 Uconnect SW update
I just sent out another email.
Just a couple of thoughts:
1) I'm not sure if I asked before but did you try a different phone to see if you could here the call before this new issue.
2) Did you try rebooting the 4S by holding down the home & power buttons till the apple appeared and then released them?
3) The person that I had sent the previous email to had thought that maybe there was something wrong with your phone. This is why I was curious about if you had tried a different phone and what results you had.
4) With this new issue, I would try a vehicle reset by disconnecting the car battery for about 15 - 30 minutes, then reconnecting it. This sometimes will help when electronics get spazzed out.
5) You will find that from time to time these phones (Apple, Android, BB etc) will need to be rebooted. They're not only cell phones now but mini computers and how often do we need to reboot our computers. I have the 4S and need to reboot it at least once a month and sometimes more for issues other than just BT related. I just had to do it last night because my phone kept dropping the BT connection on the way home. Sometimes I don't hear the phone ring or text notifications or it just locks up and volume doesn't work. So issues that are had outside of the car can be cured with a reset also.

Ha ha, yeah, I knew you weren't lying to me!
I know what I'm experiencing is a quirky thing and I assume that it is Sprint related. Their network here is pretty shoddy in Madison. Thank you for the thorough testing.
That's curious that I'm not getting a full download of my phonebook from the SGS3 to the Uconnect then. I'm certain that I have less than 1000 contacts with phone numbers in there. The vast majority only have 1 phone number listed for them, so I have to be under these limits.
Oh well, thems the breaks. I wish my stereo had that black and red theme instead of the blue theme. Is there a way to switch it? I haven't seen that in the menus.....

You're welcome for the video, I wanted you to see that I wasn't lying to you that I wasn't seeing the same issue as you're having. I'm curious on if you're experiencing a cell tower hand off. (when the signal is low and you're switched from one tower to the next). I had seen this issue with a friends BB phone that was on ATT. In fact, we were able to pin point the spot that it happened when he would call his wife after work. I went online reading about ATT related drop outs and found that even people in their homes would drop a call for a moment till they went into a different room or even a few feet away.
It would be interesting if when you got this message again if you tried the call again in a few feet or so to see if you still got that message.
Now in the other situation above that I mentioned, when the message "call completed" was heard, the call was also ended on the phone. With a few other phones that I saw this on, the phone was replying "false" when asked about the call. Uconnect would respond back with "call completed" but the call was still available on the phone. This may be different with your situation that you're having.
My family is on Sprint and there are times during the day when the towers are busy with a lot of people making calls where just a few feet will make a big difference with calls. Other times of the day I (we) can be in the same spot with absolutely no issues.
Ok, so on the other questions that you had,
1) The phone had about 750 contacts in it and appeared that they were linked to his Google account.
2) Having the contacts from a couple different groups wouldn't cause the phone to not reply back to Uconnect when it's asked about current calls.
3) Uconnect will support up to 1,000 contacts with up to (4) contact numbers for each contact. The contact numbers need to be of the following fields:
(A) mobile (B) home (C) work (D) pager <these fields can be duplicated {ex: the person may have 2 mobile numbers, 1 for work and 1 for personal}. when you say call "George, mobile", Uconnect will give you the option of which mobile number that you want to call>
4) Uconnect will only download contacts with phone numbers, it will not download an email address or a contact that may only have an email address (no phone numbers).
5) The phone book that you manually input a contact name & number is the Uconnect local phone book. It will support up to 32 contacts with up to (4) contact numbers per contact, using the same fields as mentioned above.
I hope this helps a bit.

Well there are some other limitations for downloading the pb, I'm not fully aware of all of them but if there are contacts with any special characters they may not get downloaded also. If you find yourself with some extra time, something that I have done before is to have Uconnect list all the names that are downloaded. I did this when I had more than 1,000 contacts and noticed that some weren't DLing. What I found is that they would all DL to 1,000 and that's where it ended. So I may not have had the xyz names. But inorder to figure this out, I sat in the vehicle with a paper pad & pen. At the listing of each name I placed a stroke on the pad in the grouping of 5. Once she was done, I counted them up. Another interesting thing that I found out is that how I would pronounce a name may be different than how a computer would pronounce it.
As an example, my wife's name is Kala (with the "K & 1st A" being hard KA) but a computer (including Uconnect) pronounces her name as Calla. So I have learned that if I say "call Kala" Uconnect will reply with "misrecgnition" but if I say "call Calla" the call will go thru.

One final question about your contacts.
Are your contacts showing up on the Uconnect that are linked to A) Facebook, B) Google+, C) twitter or D) not linked to anything.
I think I'm seeing the trend that my contacts that are linked to other accounts will not download their phone numbers to the Uconnect. That's not a trade off I'm willing to make but please let me know if those contacts are linked to anything.

Hi All from Sydney, Australia
I have a Dodge Caliber (2011 SXT) with the uConnect and REQ Radio, first of all when uconnect was installed by the dealer there was no usb port put in, just an ipod cable.
Does this update apply to me, as i have issues with names being recognised as numbers, and mine doesnt even get bluetooth streaming with my iphone.
In australia it is really hard to get TSB updates as the dealers dont really know what they are doing.
Any help?

Mine are all linked to a Google account. I will load up some onto a different account and see what happens. But as far as I know (and think, but that's not always correct either) they should DL from any account, unless the phone isn't sending them. I did see that before on the HTC EVO but it was corrected with an update from them.

Hello Mathew Wigger and welcome,
You mentioned that the dealer installed an iPod cable but there isn't a USB connector and also that you can't stream audio from your phone. I have a feeling that the dealer installed a 2010 Uconnect kit in your vehicle instead of a 2011. If you would please, take a picture of the iPod cable for me and post it. This will help me verify my thought. How long ago did you have the kit installed?

The kit was installed when the car was brand new delivered, August 2011. I dont know where they installed the uconnect module or how i would access it, the cable end is just a white ipod 30 pin connector.
UPDATE: Just looked at the uconnect module (i find it under the transmission) the part number is: 05064902AC SW VERSION: 19.03.62
If it is the 2010 uconnect, can it still be updated to the same software mentioned in the bulletin.
See the attached photo for more info. It only has two connections on the back, one for the connection to the radio, and the other that the ipod cable connects too. no spot for a usb cable anywhere? this is weird, would a dealer be able to update this?

For clarification, these are from my Google account but they are linked to Google+ and/or Facebook accounts for the contact pictures, etc. I ran some tests and it appears that the linking to other accounts is not working on my GS3. Still working on it though. It a hassle trying to trick my phone into not linking contacts.

Thank you for the description and picture of the Uconnect system. My thoughts were correct about you having had the 2010 kit installed and it's probably next to impossible to get the dealer to do anything that will help you out. The 2011 and newer kits have new hardware in them that allows more enhancements and memory for SW updates. Older phones didn't have all the abilities that the newer phones have so they didn't require much.
As you see your module has only 2 connectors and the 2011 unit has 3 connectors. (see picture below)
Now it is possible to replace the module and USB / iPod cable while still using your same harness and mic that is currently installed. I don't know what the dealer there would charge for the parts but you might want to look online for a Low Speed Uconnect (PN 82212499) and the optional cable (PN 82212160). The kit will come complete with a harness, module, mic & install directions. You will be better off buying the kit vs trying to buy just the module & cable. This will be a direct plug N play setup with no visits to the dealer for programming. Let me know how much you find the PN's above for, I may be able to help you out. I have already helped a couple other people outside the US.
