let me know how the box sounds. i was thinking of going with a custom box to relpace the storage in my front center console but will retain my arm rest. i have an old school polk momo 12' that need to run a clean 1000/1 watts to. (probably 500-650 continuous)

Not too long ago I picked up a dual 10" box that sits under the rear seat on ebay. I got it for $80, and its a carpeted one, made from MDS board. I installed 2, JL 10w3's and it sounds nice and clean. My last system in my car was loud, and I wanted something in my truck that wouldn't rattle the panels of my $40,000 truck. LOL. Although, when I get tired of it, and have the money to throw around, I'll fab one out of fiberglass. I've seen some pretty cool looking stereo systems on cardomain.com

i have seen those boxes before but i could not see how you could get any "deepness" out of them. the ones i have seen are not boxes but "faceplates that fit over and then inside the existing holes under the back seats. i have built more than my share of sound quality systems and for the beating i'm going to inflict, replacing the front bench (center) then reinstalling the arm rest in a sealed enclosure is going to rumble. (my opinion) [sm=happybounce.gif]

ORIGINAL: Wolf359

Check out hotboxes.com, it is a custom box that replaces the storage bin under the center console, you can get a 10" or 12" it is also color matched to your interior. I have one and it is great, don't need 2 woofers believe me.

Are you sure you wrote that link right? I typed it in exactly and it took me straight to some **** sight....

That is a pretty sweet setup!

One question though...What about the people who happen to be sitting on top of the subs?

That last thumbnail posted with the dual MTX 10"s is that an actual MTX made enclosure or another brand?

I would think that enclosure would sound better since it is similar to a down-firing setup vs the other that appear to be bandpass...and I really don't care for band pass setups.

Any of you heard these boxes yet?

It's not even worth my time making my own anymore with the prices on ebay.

i received my custom, center console box this past saturday (off of ebay) and the finish is GREAT. the guy used MDF and covered the box with vinyl that looks pretty close to my factory leather. i also purchased a kenwood mono amp to run this single 12's sub. all will be installed this weekend so i will post pictures and a brief write up on the install and sound if anyone is interested.
