Default Subs....What should I get?

I have 400 dollars to spend on a sub, amp, and install. What is the best set up I could get?

Sorry for the triple posting, but I did not want to have super long posts that you had to scroll thru. Hope these at least help give you an idea of what kind of deals are available to you. Even if you dont buy the two kits I pasted, you can still use those to help shop for a better deal!

Kicker sounds pretty good.

In my other post about the same thing, I asked if the subs & amp could be hooked up to my stock HU. Can it?

Depends on the unit in your vehicle, the connections on the unit, and whether they make adapters to add to it. It is possible, but honestly, I wouldnt do it. I would go aftermarket HU all the way.

Guess Ill put My blaupunkt HU in then, and get the $70 steering wheel adapter kit. I really dont know what type of connecters the stock HU has so any info on that would help.

goto www.crutchfield.com, enter your truck info, and they will have wire harness adapter kit for that truck. Or you can cruise to your BestBuy and goto the install area. Or a similar place that does stereo installs.

Go to a pawn shop and you can get a pair of 10 inch MTX titanium subs in a box for no more than 300. Then take it to car toys and they will either install it for free or charge you like 50 bucks. As for the amp, for now you can just get a sony explode for around 60-85 bucks. You can upgrade later. The explode is pretty good though, my bf has one in his car and it sounds hella good.

I'm sorry, this is just my personal opinion, but any one who is spending $300 on some subs from the pawn shop is nuts. Now, its not that you cant get quality stuff from the pawnshop. You can, and I have personally gotten some nice stuff from a few of them.

However, this is a kid who doesnt have alot of money. He needs things like warranties and guarantees. The prices you quoted excluded an amp capable of pushing those subs as that cheap Explode wont, the amp wiring kit, and the actual installation. For that same $300 plus like $50 more he gets an amp and an amp kit. What's the point in spending the money on equipment you cant use?

Now, it is still a solid suggestion and he could benefit from it. I just think with a young guy and limited money its a bad idea.
