neons....
does anyone here have interior neon wired into the doorjam switch so they fade off and on like the dome lights??? im planning on trying this, hopefully monday...
i dont follow..i planned on splicing into the line fron the trigger in the door frame to the lights under the dash (since i dont have a dome light) so long as im downstream of the switch, i think it should work...or it wont...im gonna try to wire this at work monday...
yeah...work, at a garage from 7am to 4pm...
i think i wil change my oil...power flush my tranny...align the car...and run a 3 step engine cleaner, alogn with running some wires. all while getting paid, and using company supplies..

The "stock" dash light is hooked to ground, and a source be it a switch on the dash or whatever, it has a source currently. You need to eliminate the present source, so don't splice without disconnecting from the source. You don't want power to both sides of the switch.
well, i know one other guy who pulled it off with a 1g stratus....so hes somewhat consulting me on this...
and should it work, not only will it fade in, but it is attatched to my sunroof, and retracts with the sunroof...

That's cool. So I take it that you are using the small neon trim type that is like a thick wire that car wrap around and all?

If that doesn't work where the voltage doesn't fade, you could probably use a capacitor and resistor from the power side of the neon to ground. This way the capacitor is charged during operations and when the power is lifted,ie turn power off, the capacitor discharges through the neon light, causing the dimming.
