Default Need help setting it all up!

I'm getting my drivers license on tuesday, and the first thing that i want to do is go get some taco bell, then go to best buy and get a new system for my truck.

Its a 2002 Dakota.

Thing is, i don't really know anything about the stereo or the speaker stuff or anything. Everything I have right now is stock, so it sounds ok, but not anything amazing.

Any suggestions at all are great. What all do i need? I mostly listen to rock, and some rap, and i like it loud. Treble and a good mid are more important than bass to me, just because of the kind of music i listen to, but i still need to be able to have decent bass. I'm thinking il get new speakers, and a new stereo/face plate.

What should i look for in the stereo/face plate? What about in the speakers?

Is all this hard to install? Will the guys at best buy do it for me, possibly?

Help!

Thanks!

I would say a new head unit and a set of amped speakers for the door and a 12" subwoofer. Best buy will put all of this in for, but you can get it for ALOT less off the internet and its not that hard to install.
How much are you lookin to spend?

Yeah. lol. Get a good CD player. Don't go to best buy to buy your CD player. If you go to crutchfield.com, you can fiund the same HU's for less $$. Then after you save up some more money, buy new door speakers. Door speakers alone will cost you (for a decent pair) 120$.

So getting a new cd player head unit will help the sound? I thought it all lied in the speakers. If i can only afford one right now, a new head unit or new speakers, which should i get replaced?

First question one should ask is what system is in the Durango. If it is the infinity system I bet a small amp and a simple sub would bring the system to life until you could buy the system of choice. Bass will add a whole nother dimension and make music sound way louder.

apperently, he doesnt have the money for "temporary" subs and amp. get the head unit first. it is the brains of your system. it clears up all distortion going to the speakers. you will notice a significant difference with a new head unit. trust me!
