Remember The Dodge M-80 Concept?
Do you think this should've been made?
I do! I think at first when I saw it and heard it was going to replace the Dakota; I didn't like it, but its grown on me.
What do you think?

Okay, are you asking if I remember this concept or if I think they should build it. I remember this concept, but I don't like it. The styling reminds me of my Grandfather's 1950 something Ford grain truck. ICK!
Kind of? It is also the case that there is some good retro and bad retro. For example, the last model Thurnderbird was too old looking. The new Camaro in my bias opinion looks like retro poorly done.
The M-80just doesn't look right if you ask me. Those round head lights disgust me. The grille stands out too much in a bad way. The 94+ Ram had a grille that stood out for its day, but it did not look unnatural. It fit into place. That just doesn't seem to fit. The rest of the styling looks too unrealistic and too gimmick for my taste. Retro is good on some cars (muscle cars), but I like trucks the way they are right now in styling(except for Ford). It also doesn't look close enough to the classic to make me believe it was a classic like the new Challenger does.
I'm sorry I can't have a photo to compare against this one, but tell me, do you think this was a wise thing to retro? I personally think this was a terrible idea as this is very similar to the instrument panel from my Grandfather's 1985 F-150.

I'm really not a fan of it, doesn't look right for a truck for me. Retro isn't always the way to go, sometimes it's pretty sweet (Challenger, Mustang, SSR) sometimes it's not so good (Thunderbird, PT Cruiser, HHR).
I do like the idea of incorporating retro elements into a distinctively new design but to me if they were going to produce that it needs to be more rounded off. The round headlights and the square look don't fit well on that truck, if it was sleeker, lowered, and sport tuned with a decent sized engine I would like it a lot more. If it was going to stay higher and be more of a utility/offroad style truck I would want to see a wider, beefier front end and different headlights at the least. Of course that's all my opinion.
Now that I look at it there's a good bit of similarity between the two. I didn't really like the Nitro when I first saw it but I'll admit it's grown on me, looks pretty good.

I was just thinking the other day that Dodge needs a good small truck to take the place of the original Dakota that has gotten bigger and bigger over the years. There was a photochop of a Dakota like truck based on the Dodge Nitro that I thought was really good but I can't find it.

I don't know how many times it has to be said. Not all concepts are made to be possibly built. Most are just to test out different styles, designs, engines features etc... The M-80 was a concept mainly of design and the design went to the Nitro.
