If they do put one in a Dakota, they will probably detune the engine to less than the 345 HP in the Ram. I think it's more likely that they come up with an even stronger 4.7L for it though.

i think that a "2006 dakota r/t" w/ a hemi if it does happen could either hang w/ or take the current lightning and if it cant it wouldnt take many mods to do it

I talked to a Chrysler Rep the other day at work. He said the reason the Dakota doesn't have the HEMI, is because they simply can't build enough engines. With it being in the Ram, Durango, 300C, Magnum, and now the Gr. Cherokee, DCX doesn't want to put it in another model. However, 2006 may be a possibilty as an SRT model.

That is true that the hemi plant in mexico would not be able to keep up. Plus remember the 4.7 is getting a redo in 06 or 07. Rumors I hear are in the 300 horse range.

The 4.7L with 300 HP would be a great little V-8. That would really power a Dakota RT better than a Hemi would. I just think the Hemi would just overpower a truck the size of the Dakota.

The 4.7L V8 will have an additional option. The H.O.(high output) 4.7L V8 will be available for the upcoming year in the Dakota. I don't know if everyone is talking about this upgrade of performance, but the H.O 4.7L produces I think 240hp and 300ft.lbs of torque, its a small upgrade from the reg 4.7L.

I would love to see a 4.7 with that much power in a Dakota! smaller engine, higher output! Hopefully the gas mileage would be much better too! At least that 4.7 would make more power than GM's 5.3's rated around 295 hp I think.

I was not refering to the H.O. Its a total redo. Three valves per cylinder and mds I know of for sure.

Odd. 3 Valves per cyl?? Why not just go the usual 4 like Toyota's 4.7 litre?

Can you say HEMI? The hemi does as well. The toy 4.7 gets the same horse if not less as the dcx version. I wouldn't be using them as an example! The new 4.7 will also have two plugs per cylinder as well. So basically it will be a smaller hemi!
