When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929. Originally used in the 1920s, Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It was also widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s – the muscle car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth "package cars" equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of "Special Parts" for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use. Today, the Chrysler LLC Global Service & Parts division is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of nearly 250,000 authentic Mopar replacement parts, components and accessories for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles sold around the world. To assure quality, reliability and durability, all Mopar parts and accessories are designed in strict adherence to Chrysler engineering standards.

Hmmmmm, bright, shiney "bling" on an off-road vehicle just doesn't add up, unless it's for the off-roaders wanna-be's.......

I've always loved chrome on trucks and SUV's, it's on cars that I don't like it.

That tire/wheel combo is uglier than an *** sandwich. And the bling bling grille isnt much better. Funny, a chrome grille didnt look like crap on the old CJ laredos...

I like it! Not everyone who buys a Wrangler has to offroad it. Who said that chrome isnt supposed to be on an offroader? Can't people just get what they want without other people bitching? It's the plain, and bland uni-colored cars that have no umph to them that I dont like!

Im not saying that at all. What I am saying is that this is a terrible look for the Wrangler. Those wheels would look at home on a 300C, and the chrome grille looks way out of place on the jk bodystyle. It just doesnt work. Thisis an attempt to dumb down the wrangler for the same people who buy escalades, and its crap. And NO, people apparently CANT get what they want. How many years have wrangler enthusiasts been clamoring for a v-8 and diesel engine options and we cant get that? No, they waste valuable r&d money on non-functional garbage that dilutes the very nature of the vehicle. Let the aftermarket come up with things like this for those who want to waste money on it.

If they want to go for a more streetable look to compliment the offroad beasts, then thats not necessarily a bad thing, but do something different, and do something that works with the vehicle in question.Maybe get some wheels with an oldschool coke bottle mag shape, and black out the hood panels for a muscle car influence. That would be something different and it would play to the wrangler's shape and nature better than this rap video bling bling crap. Its played out, everyone's doing it, and while its merely passable on the ford explorers and chevy tahoes, it flat doesnt work for the wrangler.

First off...A v-8 will never be made for the Wrangler; especially now. Now with gas prices and the push for cars to get better gas mileage;a v-8isnt going to work, andit's just too big for theWrangler. Some people may like this. Just because you don't like it; doesnt mean it won't sell. I think its great that they are treating the Wrangler like a normal vehicle with the same options as a normal vehicle; instead of a SUV; instead ofonly having those options for the off-roaders. They are trying to make it more appealing to the normal every day person; instead of just the off-roader.

Look man, I see what you're saying. But again the same treatment has been given to every other soccermom wagon on the road. Do you see this kind of thing being offered for the XTerra, or toyota FJ? No way, because the realize its not something thats going to fly with thier target audience. Its not just me that doesnt like this look for the Wrangler. If there was any real demand for big rims and bling on these, people would be customizing them this way on their own. Broader appeal to more people is exactly what this vehicle does NOT need. That will mean more luxo-garbage, reduced utility and offroad ability and a general dilluting of the wrangler image. That rough, tough offroad appeal is the only reason this vehicle has survived the migragtion to glorified minivans that has plagued every other sport utility out there. I dont see those luxo pimp mobiles flying off the lots like this rig is, as well as that FJ and XTerra. So what does that tell you? The boulevard cruisers are a fad. The real 4x4s are always going to be here since the people who care about them are more dedicated and actually use them.

And gas prices be damned, theres no good reason not to put that flex fuel 4.7 in a wrangler. The H3 is a bit smaller than the wrangler, but its getting 8 cylinders. So is the colorado. Fact is that the wrangler is actually bigger than the grand cherokee, and thats got a Hemi as an option. So the 'too small' argument just doesnt hold water. Take a look at the notes from the round table discussion at camp jeep before the jk debuted. Gas mileage was not a concern among hard core enthusiasts. And theres no way that the 4.7 will somehow deliver worse mileage than that crappy, overtaxed minivan v-6 theyre using now. That v-6 is barely enough to move the 2-door let alone the unlimited. So an engine thats struggling to move that much iron will hardly be efficient.
