2006 Dodge Charger Gets Hate Mail:
DC markets Dodge and Chrysler for 2 different kinds of people. People who want a 300 want it because its classy. Ther car is marketed to BMW and Mercedes buyers, and it works. My friend as a 2000 BMW 540i. He's trading it in for a 300C. Theres the proof. Now what about people that like the 300c but they dont want a fancy car, they want something tougher looking, more badass, but they dont want a wagon. THATS WHAT THE CHARGER IS FOR!!!! And it make perfect sense. The Charger is not a mustang. When you ask someone off the street what a muscle car is they will tell you a mustang or a camaro. The average person will not say a dodge charger. Thats why the Mustang sells. The Mustang in the muscle car world is like Superman in the superhero world. In addition to the fact that they market the car to the general public and not only muscle car guys like us. The new one is a mix of both, bringing it back to its heratige. Which i believe is what DC has started doing in a more practicle, effcient and modern way. Its seems to be working for them.
It's extremely frustrating to me that DCX can be so arrogant to try tell us that we don't want 2 doors, that they can hang whatever name from the past they feel like on a car that doesn't measure up to
well first off let me just say that i am VERY proud to say my father owns a 1969 426 HEMI Charger. he was the second owner and has had it since 1972. now im not sayin this to brag, im sayin it to prove i have the right to be upset since the charger has been just as much my baby as it is my dads since as long as i can remember, this car is a part of my family. Now, when i first heard there would be a new charger, and this was before the 99 concept was out, i cant explain how excited i was. when the 99 concept came out, i loved the looks but was so disappointed about the whole 4 door thing. when they canned that i was sad, because now i wasnt going to see it at all. when i heard it was still alive in some way i was once again sooo excited, but yet again let down when i heard it was a 4 door. now since i love chrysler as a whole more than just the name charger, i am just hoping it does do an awsome job for the company, and that it also enjoys long term success. now chrysler has to grow a their ***** a little larger and take a chance on that two door market, RIGHT NOW. i am not saying this cuz i want it, but now the market is open for taking, with only one soldier marching- the rustang. there may not be a huge market for a coupe, but there is one, and with the right combination, Chrysler too, can have a two door be successful. it just needs the perfect combo of good looks, quality/comfort for general pub., and competition killing performance, and i know its not just that easy, but if they take the right cautions, and take the time to do it right, they could kick ***.
Not exactly DCTC
I got the pics off the web. I am a MOPAR man too.
I've owned a lot of sports coupes, Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Audi TT. But I've owned a lot of RWD sports sedans , namely: Lincoln LS-8,300c.
I agree I like the idea of a two door, rear drive, v-8, with multiple V-8 engine options, built in DETROIT!
I disagree, Automotive News show the sports sedan market is growing not the coupe market. A companies ability to adapt to the changing market in a timely manner with the right product at the right time. I will admit that hasn't always happened, the GLH-Omni was 15 years ahead of the tuner market, hence SRT-4. Is this the right time for a 4-door performance sedan? Only the market with tell us that, but I can tell you the dealers are all excited, I don't know one that didn't like the Charger. As for the restyled Ram front-end, seen it in person, loved it, and it got a standing ovation from Dealers when combined with a few other new things from Ram. Dealers also love the new Dakota compared to Durango, customer's are responding well too. I promise you one thing, there is more to come, and forums will start to turn positive on here

Hmm.. dcxrje, would you happen to work at DCTC? That seems to be an awful lot of dcx products in you sig! Personally I think the main problem is this, when you think of a charger what do you think of? V8, rear drive, two door period. Yeah they had the k-car crap of the 80's(Shelby's excluded), but for the most part thats what most people think of. Also it seems that dcx design studios has gone off the deep end lately.
Durango, fugly. Dakota, fugly. Charger, fugly. See where I'm going here? Now I do work for dcx, and its dis hearting to see the design process going south![:@] I've seen photos for the 06 ram front end, fugly. Also if we wanted a four door performance sedan, we would have already bought a 300.
So here it is dcx we want a TWO door, rear drive, V8, another pet peeve, the engine choices should have been 4.7, and 5.7. NO V6![:'(]
And last pet peeve to me, we bring back the classic American sedan and possible coupe, built in Canada, with a hemi, built in Mexico![:'(]
Just my two cents, as a concerned emp.

You really liked the 06 ram front? It's just a dakota front end, that most people don't like made to fit a ram. No thanks, I'll turn in my 04 early and buy an 05 later next year! I do like the new box on the new dr, err I mean ram. But I hope it works out, I need my job! So I'm assuming you (dcxrje) either work for the company in some other capacity or in the dealer end. Any other tidbits you care to share?
I wish I had more to share, but I can't. This DodgeForum.com has a lot of pictures of what I've already seen. Some of the pictures were posted before I saw the actual vehicles, that tells you how ontop of things everybody here is. I'm impressed with the amount of information found on this forum. My hats off to all of you who provide valuable information to others. I have to say I've learned quite a bit from these forums.
I don't know about anyone else but I see a lot of the Dodge Super8 concept in this thing, more than hints of past Chargers. I liked the '99 Charger concept a lot more (much more Charger-ness in that shape IMO) but at least it's not the little FWD thing (which actually wasn't that bad of a car, a roommate of mine had a black-and-silver Shelby Charger. That was a pretty respectable little car for its day.)
