While I like the idea, Saleen is very associated to Ford, especially Mustangs.Sort of like Lingenfelter doing Viper upgrades, just seems strange. You know several Mustang guys will say it is not a real Saleen thinking they have the "title".

My guy feeling is Saleen sees a hot car and wants to take advantage

How is this any different from Shelby doing the Shelby model Dodge vehicles back in the 80's??? OR being a part of the Viper group when it was first starting? How is this any different then Lingenfelter doing Viper kits when he's a GM guy.....

I really dont see anything wrong with this since Saleen has become more of a stand alone company and is doing more and more to distance itself from just being a "Ford" associate. Steve Saleen is one of the best in the business, and his Saleen Mustangs are in my opinion, some of the best you can buy...

All in all, I look at this as a positive step for Chrysler, because obviously the big names recognize what the Challenger is...

While you and I will always agree that the LX cars and the Challenger are simply massive bricks with tons of HP under the hood, that wasnt what I was going for.

The Challenger is the next in the line of the real muscle car rebirth....and guys like Saleen know this. In fact, the Challenger is an icon, even more so in my opinion then the Mustang....

All in all, people know that this car is all power.....and much like the upcoming Camaro, I expect alot of people to be all over it...

Saleen makes toys mostly for rich guys who love car shows and are afraid of the drag strip...theyre only impressive if you dont consider the price. the 08 S281 RF makes 465 hp and has an MSRP of 50,000...im not sure of any markup on saleen models, but just that is 10,000 more than the GT500, which makes 500hp and comes packed with handling, interior, and exterior goodies...youre paying for the name of the saleen.

Thats funny it's the same weight if not less thenmost 2 door cars of it's size, excluding $200,000+ super cars. Remember this is a full size not a mid size like the mustange.

Actually, the Challenger is a coupe, therefore its in the same class as the Mustang. More to the point, its a "Pony" car, and is exactly in the same class as the Mustang &Camaro..

2009 Challenger SRT-8:

Overall Length: 197.7 in
Wheelbase: 116 in
Weight: 4140lbs

Mustang GT Premium Coupe:

Overall Length: 188 in
Wheelbase: 107.1
Weight: 3483lbs

Mustang GT500 Coupe:

Overall Length: 187.6 in
Wheelbase: 107.1 in
Weight: 3920lbs

Now, I couldnt compare anything other then the SRT-8 Challenger, so I wasnt going to look up additional weights.....but since even the LX cars dont lose much weight between the base and SRT models....I would expect the Challenger to follow suit.
