Looks like someone has some problems with his Nissan's getting stomped by Chevy's. But since you came out and said you are a Nissan owner, I will come out and say this "I will not listen to a thing you say. I disregard all of it. Nissan owners have their heads so far up their a*s that they almost see daylight out the other end. Your egos are miles long about your wimpy little vehicles."
However, if someone said they wanted a quality vehicle so they bought a Nissan, I would bust a gut. Maybe if they neglected to say "quality" it would've been true.


I love GMs. I could see a merger happening this way: Trash the Durango. Trash all of the Chrysler cars except the Challenger and Charger. Keep the Ram and Dakota. Well, maybe trash the Dakota actually. Then come out with a renamed Dakota. Probably keep the Jeep, then hopefully trash their Hummer. The Envoy and Trailblazer will probably come back in a renamed version with an upgrade. Or just be the Yukon and Tahoe.
If you haven't noticed, all the GM trucks have what you could call a "smaller version." GMC has the Canyon, Silverado has the Colorado. The Ram would have the Dakota, or something like Wyoming. Going along with the theme.

But for the Dodge owners, you would still buy a Dodge. Chrysler would be bought out by GM, not Chevy. So the GM lineup would be GMC, Chevy, Dodge. Also, many people won't buy a Chevy because they don't like them. Instead, they buy a GMC.

 

Where's the option for 'no buyout'? Everyone's going thru tough times right now. There was a post about selling the stock to ChryCo's employees. I like that idea best. But when push comes to shove, Nissan would be the better partner. This will ensure that Mopars will be around for years to come and have thier own identity.

And someone said also that we dont have an average Joe sedan. What do you call the V-6 Charger? My parents rented one while they were here and for a sedan (even though I hate sedans) it was a solid, nicely built car. It had a 2.7 v-6 which had adequate power and got mileage comparable to any crappy cammaccord. And it does offer a different look than used-bar-of-soap-on-wheels.

 

This is a great quote. Because i think that not only Chrysler, but GM as well are just as good or better as any other car company, in reference their build quality. I owned 4 Chrysler/ DCX Products a 2001 Ram 2500 H.O. Diesel Upwards of 170,000, a 1992 Ramcharger with 80,000 mi, and a 1990 Jeep Cherokee that has 230,000 miles all three of which i still have, and recently sold a Near Mint condition 1993 W250 Diesel Which had 300,000mi . All of these vehicles Have Held together better than even the hoitey toighty Hondas and Toyotas I could even put BMWs into that mix

However a merger with any other car company espically GM would be a nightmare. There is no need for another owner of Chrysler in under 15 years. Cerberus Capital Management is being stupid, scared that it bit off more than it was willing to chew, and doesnt seem to give a damn about what would happen to one of the most iconic collection of nameplates in the world.

With a GM Merger/ Takeover most likely Chrysler and Dodge wouldn't stand a chance. Simply because of the suppoused synergies that they are clamed to have. There would be redundant offerings in all model ranges that would simply just add to GM's allready overcrouded redundant offerings. Most likely there would be job losses anyway, as they close dealers, assyembly lines, etc... The only nameplate that has a good chance of survival would be JEEP, but it still would get the GM touch (not a good thing). Also, many Mopar loyalists would not buy a New Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep Product if the arch rival of GM or Ford owned the company.

The best thing for Cerberus, is to survive with an Independent Chrysler, learn from the mistakes that they have made, and bring back the 4.0l Inline 6

 

I am very,very PRO BIG 3. I am not on the other hand PRO one either one of them buying the other. If I want a Dodge,I want Dodge, a Dodge made by or for GM,Ford. or anyother auto maker for that fact. I will not buy a Japan owned auto makers car. I can see partnerships, that is fine, but not one own only by Japan. This country has suffered enough by all the foreign brands.

 

Cerberus has made it clear they are selling Chrysler and the sooner the better. There is no longer any chance for an independent Chrysler. The only American company interested is GM. They have already said they will kill everything Chrysler makes, but the Jeep Wrangler. Renault-Nissan's CEO Carlos Ghosn has said if they win the bidding war, they will keep Chrysler intact and semi-autonomous. I don't like the idea of a slave Chrysler, but it is the best of very bad options. GM will kill Chrysler just to get their hands on the engineering and design arm of Chrysler. There is NO hope for an independent Chrysler. Don't blame Daimler Benz or whoever eventually gains control, thank the greedy stockholders who sold to Daimler in the first place. Daimler raped Chrysler and left them for dead before dumping them to the lowest bidder-Cerberus. Those greedy stockholders even took less money to sell to Daimler instead of Kirkorian and Iaccoca, on the stupid belief Daimler would honor the stock options-which they didn't. It was greedy Americans that is forcing a great American company into the arms of a foreign company.

Living here in The Detroit area, I'm hoping Nissan/Renault gets Chrysler, as that would have the least impact on jobs around here, foreign owned or not,

i completely agree with you. i am from the detroit area and my family still lives there. My dad works at the warren truck plant on the line making the didge ram, and he said that if gm buys chrysler he will not have a job in a year, so he said that he would rather work for the japaneese and keep his job rather than loosing his job so the company could stay american. If GM buys chrysler and dismantles it, they will hurt the michigan economy more because of all the jobs they kill off, at least the jobs will be staying there if nissan buys them and it makes more sense for them to buy chrysler because they already have partnerships with them to build cars and trucks.

 

Tell that to all of the Americans who build Hondas, Toyotas, and Mitsubishis in the continental 48.
