well, it should make up for that by the fact that the viper doesnt need to rely on forced induction...

Why is it Dodge's fault that GM won't put appropriate tires on the highest performance Vette there is? If I'm buying I would want a high performance car to come with high performance tires, to do otherwise is rather dumb.

Supercharger?
I'd like to see someone run a Venom 1000 on the ring.

The Viper is safer (but heavier), faster, looks better and N/A. We have a winner.

Let me get this straight, a normally aspirated Viper beats a sucked and blown Vette and that doesn't mean anything? Put a supercharger on a Viper and tell me that doesn't mean anything. And from a moderator, no less.

Hey, that's the first time I figured out how to do that ( : This is what I was refering to. Put a s/c on the Viper and it won't be a contest. To say that it doesn't say good things about the Viper, IMO(12 years certified mechanic), shows little mechanical understanding.

He was referring to me, and I must say that the viper has 2.2 extra liters of displacement, that's like taking a corvette engine and adding a cavalier engine onto it. It'd be kind of pointless running them heads up if the vette wasn't blown.

Also, mantisman, read below VVVVVVVVV

Good point (; The simple truth is that, as long as an engine can handle the extra power, a supercharger gives a geometric increase in power. The Nissan Skyline is a perfect example. It's 3.8L gets a frightening 480 hp and 430 ft lbs of torque. That is unheard of in an engine of that displacement. Put a Skyline up against a Vette or Viper and they both will barely beat the Skyline. Is this, too, an indictment of both of these super cars? No, it is a testament of how a blown (particularly super-blown) engines over-perform. The main thing the question begs is WHY DON'T MORE CAR COMPANIES USE THEM?

Reliability/warranty issues is why. Same reason the SRT-8 doesn't have the lifetime powertrain warranty. They are built to be abused and will sooner or later break and the manufacturer doesn't want to lose money repairing abused drivetrains.
Same reason that you can buy a 725hp Shelby GT500 SuperSnake but it comes with no warranty.
