its going to need a great deal more work than just coil suspension to keep up with the gt500...

Idk about that...top gear raced a gt500 against a roush which was only makin 425 hp and the roush ate it up cause it was built right...
nastier looking but they just took the engine out of the KR with 540hp... sure its a lot but when magazines tested it it is only slightly faster than the old standard GT500
the engine tuning, as well as the suspension from the KR. they also put more time into the aerodynamics...they were going for much more of an overall performer than a drag car. hell, even the stock tires were designed specifically for the new gt500...
wow, thats more work that i would have expected. however, i would rather take a new CTS-V or Z06 (maybe ZR1 even tho its more expensive) before i took a GT500... JMHO
keep in mind..youre talking about cars that cost WAY more than the GT500...
the cts-v is around 60 grand, the Z06 is 74,000, and the Zr1 is over 100,000...the GT500 is probably going to be in a similar price range to an srt8 challenger...mid 40s.
you know what ya your right... sorry i was for some reason or another thinking of the cost of the GT500KR which was MSRP'd at (79.9K)... nevermind then
youd think that some of the cost of the last gen KR would transfer over to the 2010 GT500, but it hasnt.
im not a huge mustang guy, but the new gt500 is sick...the z06 was a "bargain" in the 70s...this thing is just plain underpriced. here are some of my shots from the auto show of the new cobra.. LinK!
