It doesn't matter if Canada and the US benefit from each other. They are foreign to us, we are foreign to them. Candians are not citizens of the USA, Americans (USA) are not citizens of Canda. This is a black-and-white issue. There is no "grey" area.

I am not saying the trade between Canada and US is unhealty. I support it. But, stuff from Canada is foreign. A 1st grader can understand this.
i think what mantisman is trying to say is that the two countries are so close that every little thing that one does affects the other therefore if usa sends us canadian's stuff to work on then we are gonna have jobs therefore more likely to take trips to america or buy from american sites cus we have money from the jobs america has sent us and the dollar is so much lower then the american one that we can still buy stuff cheaper from you then if we bought it here and not every car bought in canada is canadian made so we need those jobs from america to get our ppl working so we can possibly buy cars that were actually made in america therefore giving you americans jobs so almost in a sense we are like one you both make good points but essentially what canada does for america and what america does for canada is what make's both of us thrive

Kinda, I suppose. But more to the point, American companies could not operate without Canadian production and vice-versa. We are both completely interdependent. It goes beyond a mutual benefit, it is mutual dependancy. On a side note, a really stupid Toyota d**k s****r on Autoweek's forums tried to argue that my 03 Neon, with a Belvedere, Il sticker in the window, was made in Mexico. The ignorance of some is overwhelming.

Reading through this thread and some of the attitudes about "buy American" reminds me of a story I heard years ago. If anyone is still wondering why the economy is where it is at today a few of you don't need to look any further than your bathroom mirror for one of the main reasons.

I believe I'm finished with this thread but I'll leave you all with the following:

Joe Smith started the day early having set his
alarm clock
(MADE IN JAPAN )
for 6am. While his
coffeepot
(MADE IN CHINA )
was perking, he shaved with his
electric razor
(MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a
dress shirt
(MADE IN SRI LANKA),
designer jeans
(MADE IN SINGAPORE)
and
tennis shoes
(MADE IN KOREA)
After cooking his breakfast in his new
electric skillet
(MADE IN INDIA)
he sat down with his
calculator
(MADE IN MEXICO)
to see how much he could spend today. After setting his
watch
(MADE IN TAIWAN)
to the
radio
(MADE IN INDIA)
he got in his
car
(MADE IN GERMANY)
filled it with
GAS
(from Saudi Arabia)
and continued his search for a good paying JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his
Computer
(Made In Malaysia),
Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his
sandals
(MADE IN BRAZIL)
poured himself a glass of
wine
(MADE IN FRANCE)
and turned on his
TV
(MADE IN INDONESIA),
and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in America!
