The government has no right to mandate who can or cannot be the CEO of a PRIVATE company. The constitution and declaration of independence were written to keep private citizens free from the tyranny of government. I guess there must be some fine print somwhere that says except for Rick Wagoner among others...

once taxpayer money went toward their bailout they aren't private anymore.

my question is to try to get this back on topic a bit is, if for example Chrysler did disappear what exactly happens to our Chrysler loans?

Reagan granted Chrysler a loan in the 80's (taxpayer money). Chrysler struggled for a while but restructured and came roaring back. They paid the loan off with interest. Nobody from the government came in to micromanage because back then they had the sense to understand that nobody knows the auto biz like the automakers. A government loan does not entitle the government to step in and run the joint.

Check this story out: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...060801765.html

The government can't even run a cafeteria at a profit and they are going to fix GM and Chrysler better than the private sector could?

Yep. The fine print may be in "we want tax dollars". You could say we all have a stake in the company. So I say ousts any CEO we has lead the company to failure.

With respect to the auto manufacturers, it is not the CEOs' fault. It was the sub-prime mortgage market and oil speculation that put us in this mess, and many sectors of the economy have suffered for the greed of those involved. Aside from the unwarranted bonuses that they receive (which is really just a drop in a very large bucket) they have no fault in the matter. If you want to lay blame, then blame the unions. At least the CEOs' had to invest 6 or 8 years in college. The unions are full of people with high school educations demanding near six figures for popping rivets.

People need to understand this is the plan of the liberals to start a socialist economy.

Sit back and enjoy...first they bankrupt the country spending money we don't have then installs programs to control buisness (loaning money so they can issue stipulations) then selling interst in the country to other countries...Just a thought...wait and see.

I'm glad to hear about the warranties!! I have 3 Dodges with the lifetime powertrain warranty!!!

GM CEO had to go, 30 years in the business and still couldn't come up with a plan to save GM. Time for new faces and ideas!!! He was too old school.
