i have a huge problem with the automakers getting any money at all!!! look at what happened to the airline industry after 9/11... they all filed bankruptcy (i wanna say chapter 11 but im not sure) and restructured and slowly dug themselves out of the hole they were in!! yeah some people lost thier jobs and yeah some companys went out of buisness but they fixed thier problems by themselves!!! and i also have a problem with an organization that tells people to lay out of work because they are only making 65 dollars an hour and not 66!!! as far as im concerned the auto unions are all crooked piles of cow dung!! i understand the need for a union back in the day but there is absolutely no need for them now!!!

Much agreed except the Union part. If there weren't Unions in todays society, most Americans would be working for Foreign wage rates and barely if any at all health coverage. believe it or not Unions provide even the workers that aren't in Unions better work environments.

I don't care if chrysler goes into the tank, GM and Ford can go thier as well.

Bail outs with your money, when the bank tells you, you can't have any, the government wanting banks to give you credit, when nothing has any vaule ( cars homes ) and with insecuirity with peoples jobs, your paying on depreating goods with yesterday money.

Your tax money has all ready been pissed away and gm and chrysler want more, built and buy American means frick all when GM and Chrysler and Ford do not build 100% of thier product in the United states.

Why not get a instant tax crdeit if you buy a dodge, Gm or Ford, Blanket lump sum bail out money is screwing the domstic consumer, Toyota and Honda Build in the U.S.A, should the japs get bail out money too ??

Protectionest measures don't allow the best products to accell in a global market..

Toyota and Honda are really going to reap the rewards of detriots big three in abillity to run a profitable company, Consumers are going to give Ford, Gm and chryler the bye bye real fast.

Well there were talks about Chrysler being bought out by Nissan I think? It was a foreign auto maker. The MAIN reason the Gov't is bailing these guys out is because of things that aren't seen or thought of by most Americans. There are Many Comapny/Suppliers that make the Big 3 products like gears, tires, wheels, Fabrics, Paint amterials, even local machinists that fix and maintain their facitlities. If the suppliers go Bankrupt, then we as a whole community are screwed. That means you won't be able to go down to NAPA or Advance Auto and buy.....ANYTHING.
That's the main reason for all this crap.

Let me say this first before anything else, I DO NOT IN ANY WAY SUPPORT THE BAIL OUT!
But..... There is a major difference between the Big Three and the Air lines.
when the air lines filed, they didnt have foreign competition. Now I know they might have had a little bit on the coasts and what not, but for the most part they dont compete with foreign airlines like the Big Three have to compete with foreign car companies.

In my opinion unions are responsible for massive job losses as companies move to foreign countries to get cheap labor. There is no longer any clothing produced in this country. No electronics or appliances. Soon no furniture factories. I think it would be better for this nation and the economy to employ twice as many people at $30/hour than half as many union workers at $60/hour (incl. benefits). Now, GM, Ford, & Chrysler spend more for labor than materials on every vehicle made.
As long as we demand the cheapest prices for everything we buy (WalMart), companies will have to keep costs down any way they can.
If you want union wages, you better not be purchasing ANYTHING not made in this country.

Every time I see a TV clip of a UAW auto worker, thier wearing Shorts, T shirts and holding the equiment that is doing the lifting with one hand. I bet the average stay at home mom has a more physcaly demanding job..

A while back Ford wanted to increase production and be more efficent + cut cost's UAW did not go for it, robotics would take away a workers abillity to pay union dues.

I don't want to slam a specfic UAW auto worker, we all need employment but when I hear of $75.00 an hour labour rate for a UAW worker and $55.00 an hour for non union, its simple math saying one class of worker is over paid.

I like the challenger, 300c and the charger, true hard core american RWD cars, price one out and dodge wants you to a arm, a leg, and than a little more to get into one, its not the small FWD avengers or the nitro or that 4 door thing I can't spell that will save Dodge+chrysler, Its the cars that every one wants, but will never spend 44 grand cdn for challenger R/T

Believe it or not, you can't blame Chrysler. They are struggling to show how they can survive and if they have too many sub-prime borrowers, it goes against their credit rating and makes the feds less likely to loan more money. I got turned down by everyone in February when I tried to buy a new 2008 Charger for $18k. The sticker was $26k and I had a score of 652 with $2k down, so I thought I was in like Flynn. Nope, no one would give me a loan, even though I have debt to income ratio of 23%. I was pretty upset, but, even though I have no bad credit in the last 5 years, I had some pretty big problems back in 2003 that make me look iffy, even though I have no car late payments or repossesions. I just want Chrysler to pull through bailout/loan/merger. Hell, I'd just send them $100, if I knew a million or 2 other Mopar-Maniacs would do the same. My Dad's first car was a 29 Plymouth Coupe. My first car was a 65 Dodge Coronet. I don't wish them ill, I want Chrysler to be here forever.
