Are ASE certifications difficult?

I had the brake certification. The shop I worked for required we all get ASE certified and it is the easiest by far. BTW, there are some very accurate ASE tests on the web now that will basically show you what's going to be on them. The tests change, so you won't probably see the exact test you'd take, but if you look at a few of them you'll be able to have a pretty good idea of what's on them.

This has alot of the basic questions, but there are more sites that are basically "cheat" sites. ASE is a BS organization and there are too many techs wearing the stupid blue gear who don't know their *ss from a hole in the ground-like me.

I mean, there is nothing wrong with getting an ASE cert.
But you'll run into that anywhere. I work with people that have attained certain skill levels at work that have no idea WTF is going on.

Hard is a relative term. The whole secret to zipping thru a test is to understand how to take a test. The Tech A & B questions are making 1 question into 4. I in school was horrible student but a pretty good test taker because I was able to devise a system to understand the psychology of the test. Quite often the same questions are written in with different wording and often you find the answer for one question in a another.
When I took my ASE tests (many years ago) I signed up for 10 tests but they only let me take 4 at a time so I had to go in 3x. I was the first one done with 4 tests while there was guys at my table with only one and they were still going as I left.
Reading comprehension and logic is crucial. I aced the A/C test but I never work on A/C nor have I had any formal training on it. I just my test taking system using deductive reasoning... eliminate the obvious wrong answers then you're down to 50/50 at most.
