the sebring and stratus/avenger are and will be made in teh Sterling highs plant which is a Chrysler plant, so these are indeed Chrysler cars being build on a codeveloped frame, so this is not a mitshu at all it is a Chrysler product.

2coff has a point it is just a name, so don't get your panties in a bunch. no matter what it is called ti would be another great Chrysler product.

i don't think sebrign is confirmed yet either though.

This is from the original article posted:

Chrysler will spend $240 million to renovate a factory in Sterling Heights for the launch of the next generation Chrysler Sebring sedan and convertible and the four-door Avenger. The first Sebring is expected next summer.

So according to the article, the Sebring is confirmed. Also, the only time I mentioned Mitsubishi was merely in saying that they are starting to share more and more parts between the cars. My Stratus Coupe is basically all Mitsubishi parts, and certain Stratus/Sebring engines are also Mitsu made as well. Also, they will be sharing the same platform down the road.

My complaint isnt about it being a crappy car, its about how Chrysler products are now sticking around while all the cool Dodge cars/trucks are either gettin canned or replaced with what is my opinion, junk.

Let's see here, the high end Chrysler products get to keep their Sebring coupe, the Sebring 4dr, which was a Stratus, they have 300C, the Crossfire, Pacifica etc etc etc....

The lowly pathetic Dodge, at least thats the way it seems to me, has just lost the Neon including the SRT-4, the Dodge Stratus Coupe, Stratus 4 door, and they are replacing it with basically the Chrysler version Avenger 4dr, no 2 dr coupe model. They are replacing the Neon with the Caliber, which while having potential, reminds me of a pregnant rollerskate. The only coupe in the entire lineup for Dodge is now the Viper, and there isnt any guarantee of a new coupe coming out anytime before 2010.

I find it rather amusing that Chrysler has already killed off one of the greatest car lines from Plymouth, and it seems like they are slowly doing it with Dodge.

I'm not complaining about what they call the car, I'm complaining about losing a good car period. I guarantee you that more people today are about looks and not about functionality. If I offered you a Dodge Viper base model V12 as opposed to a Dodge Viper fully loaded V10, most people would take the V10. Why? Looks.... The Stratus doesnt get all the fancy badging and woodgrain etc etc. The Sebring does.

Edit: I'm not trying to be an a$$ or change your opinion, I'm just really pissed about seeing good cars discontinued. Especially when you keep a very similar car that's the "parent" companies "preferred" brand around...

The car isn't discontinued just the name. I like it by the way and I own a stratus. Stratus is to pussified a name when you have names like, Charger, Magnum, Calibar, Viper. All powerful names, Stratus dosen't fit IMO.

The Stratus has been a somewhat popular car all things considered....with the plymouth breeze and chrysler cirrus cars.....and now they are going to rename it BACK to Avenger????

No wonder the only good Dodge is a truck!!! [:@][>:]
Ha, yeah right. Don't get me wrong. I love the Stratus, but it's about as popular as my big toe.

Ha, yeah right again.

Dodge needs to call the coupe a different name. I think the Stratus coupe got a bad wrap because is was called the same thing as the sedan.

I was only referring to it being a popular car as a whole. Take all of the total sales of the different named but identical models and you would probably get strong sales for 1 car.

The Stratus itself isnt a strong name, but you are telling me that the PT Cruiser or VW Beetle is a strong name? They happen to be pretty solid selling vehicles. I wasnt saying that it was a power dominating car, just that overall it generated pretty decent sales all things considered. It's not a Pontiac Aztek or Buick Rendezvous
