Default Question of the Week Should SRT Have Packed the New Viper with More Power?

This week's Question is as simple as it sounds - should the SRT Viper have packed more power to make it more dominant...rather than just being a little better than the competition?

Asking a forum full of car fanatics if they would prefer more or less power...consensus so far is more.

It would, but then it would over power Ferrari and Fiat will not allow it. The Americans can build a more reliable, powerful Supercar than the Italians can, the boss just won't let us.

The car has a hard enough time finding grip out back, so im going to say unless they make a drastic change to mid engine the 600 some odd hp is plenty.

The owners of the dealership I work at just bought one and I have to say it is one impressive car. Just pulling it in the shop you could tell the raw torque that v10 has is awesome. Is it enough? There is never enough when someone has more......

I heard that parent company fiat didnt want the power to weight ratio to be more superior than the new flagship ferarri in which fiat is also the parent company of.

Yes, they should have done this instead of screwing with the gearing on the transmission. In doing this, they took a car that was doing decent on gas and made it bad again while making it harder for Dodge to win the 0-60 runs as it now has to be shifted.

Fiat needs to pay careful attention to the mistakes made during the Daimler years and learn that if they try to protect their high end cars from Dodge beating them, they are shooting themselves in the foot as Chevrolet will not hold back and is probably on the verge of beating their high end cars too. If Dodge does a better job with simpler technology, don't punish success, LEARN FROM IT!!!
