Report Says Chrysler to Build Minivans for VW in St. Louis
Washington DC November 29, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that Bloomberg said that Chrysler will build minivans for Volkswagen AG at its South plant in St. Louis. The VW minivans would be sold in the U.S. and exported abroad, though it is not known when production would start. A spokesman for Chrysler would not comment on the report. DaimlerChrysler has a South and North plant in St. Louis that face each other across a highway. The South plant built 201,000 minivans in 2004.

Chrysler may make the most reliable ones......but they sure as hell need a power upgrade! Hell, look at chevy, their base engine nearly outpowers our best engine! We need to drop the 3.5 from the Charger and Pacifica into the vans.

The Chevy 3.5 puts out 201 horse, their 3.9 is 240.
Ford has a 3.9 that puts out 194, and a 4.2 that puts out 201.
The dc twins have a 3.3 with a 180 horse, and a 3.8 with 215.
We are not talking huge differences here. Most people get the 3.8 because of packaging. IE the sxt. Which will be my wifes next car. Plus I've never heard of horsepower being a main contributor to minivan sales.
On a side note there is a replacement for the 3.3/3.8 coming very soon.

Chrystlers mini vans are greatly under powered. I hate to say it, but even the Windstar and Freestars are quicker than a Town and Country or a Caravan. Im definantly not car biased, I appreciate a car for its worth. My dad owns a little dealer **** here in KC and I drive diffrent stuff all the times. Chrystlers vans definantly need more power.
