Look, the vette's never caught up, I never heard that anywhere. the 500-horse V10 in the Viper can still drag the crap out of anything as far as i'm concerned.

 

UH nope, your wrong, the Z06 is faster than the current Viper SRT models, in pretty much every way... but thats alright because Dodge will come back with something better, we will just have to wait.

Where have you been... The Vette Z06 might not crush the Viper, but it does beat it by a hair... It's lighter, more aerodynamic and geared for races runs such as the quarter mile... Simple as that...

 

put a viper next to a Z06 at the lights,
1/4 mile- Z06 leads
1/2 mile- neck and neck
3/4 mile- viper leads
1 mile- Z06 no longer a viable threat

The viper is built for speed, the torque curve is barely adequite for jumping the light.
solved by better gearing.
I watched a viper step on his rear bumper with a single turbo, granted thats not all he had, but he was untouchable in a class dominated by cars worth twice as much.
yes the viper is expensive, but it's worth every dime.

Stock Viper vs. Stock Z06

#'s are virtually identical....except in the 1/4 mile. There is no advantage a mile down the road for either car really. The driver will make the biggest difference.

 

True, but the viper was bred for LeMans style racing, all out speed, it gets the most acceleration while it's still at speed, after leaving a turn
the corvette was always a drag racer, the cars were both designed for different scenarios, take a corvette to the twisties and it will do well, but the viper will still dominate, same if you take a viper to the lights, viper will hold its own but in 1/4 mile, it will lose, (stock to stock, equal driver ability)

Ummm you must not have seen the Corvette C6 then....I suggest you go take a peek at one. 10 years ago the Viper outright dominated the Le Mans.....it doesnt anymore. I am still again going to say its an even playing field.

 

My dad knows a person who sells chevys down at our local dealership, and he said they just sold one for 95k.

 

I have seen the C6, (I play too many video games,) I just did some more digging and you are right about the even field, however, I was talking about two standard issue cars driven off a dealers lot, yes, the viper does not dominate Le Mans anymore but thats not to say that a bone stock viper won't dust a bone stock Z06

I actually think that the Corvette ZO6 is a better track car. Or, at least, that is what I have heard.
