Performance War?

Performance War?
With plans off all the SRT models coming up, it looks like Chevrolet plans to go head to head in a performance war with Dodge. Rumor has it, Chevrolet will release a new Silverado SS on the all-new 2006 Silverado platform to against the Ram SRT-10, the Cobalt Supercharged SS will go up against the Neon SRT-4, TrailBlazer SS and Tahoe SS against the HEMI powered Durango, and so forth... all the SS based trucks, like Silverado SS, Tahoe SS, and TrailBlazer SS will come standard w/ the 345 horsepower 375 ft-lbs of torque 6.0L HO "VORTEC" V-8 found in the Escalade, and will all feature all-wheel drive, excpet for the next generation of full-size pickups.
Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS... due out in 2006.
Chevrolet Tahoe SS... rumored to be holding out to new platform change in 2006.
Chevrolet Cobalt SS... due out for 2005 w/ supercharged ECOTEC motor w/ 180 horsepower.

RE: Performance War?
Well we know the Sierra and Silverado get all-new models in 2006, on the new GMT900 platform, however know one is sure when or if the Tahoe (Yukon) and Suburban (Yukon XL) will debut in 2006 or 2007? But the news is to see a new Escalade in 2007 as a 2008 model, with an optional V-10!

RE: Performance War?
That article scares me, and here is why:
What is it with the Dodge truck performance? I love Dodge but I'm starting to get frustrated. The 505 HP Ram SRT-10 barely outruns the 380 HP Lightning, The Regular Cab 2X4 Ram 1500 with the 345 HP HEMI can barely keep up with the heavier Extended Cab AWD 345 HP Silverado SS, and the 340 HP HEMI Durango got beat by one of the other SUVs in that Motor Trend SUV Competition. That SRT Ram should smoke the crap out of that Lightning and that HEMI Ram should be beating the SS by a lot more than it does (when it does).

RE: Performance War?
The SUV that beat the Durango is the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder Armada w/ the 5.6L "ENDURANCE" V-8 w/ 305 horsepower and 387 ft-lbs of torque, which is the SUV based on the Titan. So far the ENDURANCE motor has barely beat the HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 in 1/4 mile runs. So look for Dodge in 2006 to boost horsepower in the Ram to 350, and add 10 more ft-lbs of torque to add to 385!

RE: Performance War?
On the cobalt: I thought the coupe SS (pictured) and sedan SS were expected to be rated at 180 HP without the supercharger and the Coupe SS Supercharged model was a 2.0 liter engine with supercharger rated at 205 HP. 205 HP with a good torque range from a supercharger would put make it a much better SRT contender than the 180 HP number. I believe the coupe weight is really simlar to the SRT4--about 50 pounds heavier if I remember correctly.
Is that correct, or has there been new numbers released? I am expecting the 2.4 DOHC HO Solstice to be to be about 170 according to the Pontiac publishings. Should be decent enough for a low-buck roadster.
I believe there's also been a 2.2 Turbo motor underdevelopment. (Vauxhall?) that might in theory show up in Solstice's and Cobalts later. About 240 Horse I think?
