Well to everyone who can't wait to see the new charger the wait may be over at this weekend's firecracker race in Daytona. A Chrysler rep visiting our store for Dodge premier night told me that Chrysler is planning on revealing the design at the race. But like anything else.....who knows?

 

Hmm. This contradicts a lot of what we've heard about their launch strategy for Charger.

It's possible that they will show next year's (Charger-based) Cup car at the race, which will give us some clues about Charger's look. But given how far the street Charger is expected to diverge from NASCAR's templates, I wouldn't expect to get too much info about the final car from that -- especially if they leave the front and rear stickers off...

 

Even if it is the Cup car version, it will be worth seeing for sure. I hope they show it on TV.

No. Nothing official at all has been said, actually, except that it's coming and it will be shown in January in Detroit. Chrysler is keeping its cards VERY VERY close to its chest on this one. The idea is to spring it in January just as it goes into production. From a PR perspective, it's a good idea -- get cars to the dealers while the initial hype is still going on. Frustrating as heck for us enthusiasts, though!

Naah, I've just been following the rumor mill closely.

yeah that was one nice car, I would love t osee that car with the Hemi.

 

No can do -- it doesn't fit on the LX platform, apparently.

The original plan was to do a platform just for Charger and the 300 Hemi C and build them alongside the LXs at Brampton, but the bean counters killed that idea. Chrysler's whole approach now is lean, flexible manufacturing -- getting the most out of a few basic designs. Sort of like the K car era but with a lot more flexibility built in.
