These current design RAMs are the best ever, 'cept for the designer that stole the tailight look from CHEVY. Dude, what were you thinking? The only thing that saved your job is the new FORD I saw yesterday.... what's that Ron White line... "things that make ya go... uuhh"

 

I heard another rumor...forget where...and no idea how true it is...that the 2009 redesign is going to focus more on the interior and new engines, and the exterior would get only slightly updated. They want to make the interior more competitive with Ford, especially, and the engines have to keep up with the new Toyota (though the new 4.7 coming out this fall will really help with that).

 

i heard the same thing. supposedly now that dodge has won over lots of customers with their performance and exterior looks, they are going to focus on more interior refinement. thats the only thing that ford beats them on in my opinion. even the fully loaded laramie isnt quite as nice as a fully loaded lariat. and IMO nothing can compare with the king ranch as far as interior refinement goes. but i dont see how the new 4.7 will help compete with toyota. the new 4.7 is only supposed to be like 290-300 hp, and the new tundra has about 380. until they either unveil a new hemi for the rams or upgrade the existing one, toyota will be on top as far as hp goes. and for 07 chevy has a 367 hp 6.0.that might only be available in the 3/4 and 1 tons though im not sure.

 

The new Dodge 4.7 beats the Toyota 4.7 though. The Toyota only has 271 hp and 313 tq.

Not saying it's a huge win, but it certainly helps. A new/revised Hemi would really help.

I think that design was actually on the second gen Durangos all along...

 

I know for the Dakota it's at 290 hp and 320 tq. I'd assume it's pretty close for the Ram, Durango, Grand Cherokee, and Commander (is that still around for '08?).

 

isnt it King Ranch? this kid i know, had a 2006 f-250 king ranch long bed, 12" lift, 40"tires 20" chromes, blah blah blah. EVERYTHING!! the interior beats my larmie's interior greatly! all dodge needs is to work on the interior and beat toyotas performance, and theyve got it in the bag.

 

I dunno how it all is similar. We only have 3 trim levels (for most trucks...the 2500/3500s have four with the Power Wagon, too)....Ford's got 5 trim levels. Plus, each truck has their offroad trim...the FX4 or TRX4. Maybe Laramie falls between Lariat and King Ranch.

Either way, I agree...Ford wins in the interior department.

 

The King Ranch is just about the most refined interior there is. Ford hit the mark with it. Now all Dodge needs to do is something similiar to the King Ranch and no doubt it'll be the nicest Ram to date.
