Here's a list of changes I'd like to see:
[ul][*]Yes, get rid of those stupid looking ricer tail-lights[*]If you are going to promote 6-passenger seating, then put a lap/shoulder belt in the front center position (w/headrest even better)[*]Also, back to the front center position: Get rid of that darn cupholder base that interferes with sitting in this position[*]Add a rear center headrest to the quad cab configuration[*]Get rid of indentation in rear center quad cab seat.[*]Make the short-bed a true "standard" bed by stretching to at least 6'6"[*]A truck that sits high and looks tough shouldn't have the lowest ground clearance of the big three[*]Payload ratings seem low in comparison to comprably equipped Ford & Chevy's. This might be an engineering fix, but might also be addressed by legal and/or marketing?[*]On the Mega Cab, re-design the rear seat so that it slides fore and aft. Many people would like to adjust legroom versus behind-seat storage[*]On the Quad Cab, add just a little more wiggle room. As little as 1 additional inch of measured legroom combinedwith more rake to the rear seat could make a huge difference[*]And finally, don't screw up the styling. Don't make it look like the Mayor of Legoland like Ford, or screw up a perfectly good looking heavy-duty truck with a funky looking front bumper like Chevy[/ul]
By the way, some of my interior refinements are based on the fact that we are a family of 5. So, I am always concerned with safety and maximum seating capability. Also, some things that I really like about the Dodge are the solid front axle, and the availability of a 3500 in SRW short-bed configuration. Hoping those options remain.

You have some decent ideas there but lap/shoulder and headrest in front center would be impossible without losing the functionality of the center seat/console. I consider that spot more of a "oh we need to fit a bunch of people in randomly" than a normal seat you would use all the time. I think most people would prefer the console, also I like the cupholders.
(Before anyone comments that there's a dakota in my sig my dad has an 02' Ram, I've driven it a lot.)

Actually, the lap shoulder belt combo in the front center was recently introduced with the new Tundra. Andthey brag about being 1st with this.Headrest would just attach to the top of the seat and fold with the rest of it or perhaps be removable? Also, many of us have families of 5 or more. In our situation, it would be nice to have 1 extra seating position when we are all in the vehicle. It just seems to me that these are all simple safety and/or functionality fixes. For example, it boggles my mind as to why GM would not even offer a rear-center headrest in a newly designed truck. Anyhoo, I will take the action item to check out the new Tundra and see how they went about it.
But, back to the main-topic of this thread. I'm just chompin at the bit to get a new truck (3500, sb, srw, quad, Laramie), but do I get one now or wait for the new & improved 2009? Can't wait to hear more about this.

Hard to say till we get more info on the '09. Keep in mind though buying the first year of any redesign you will be the guinea pig for any problems they still need to work out. Of course if it's everything we're hoping it should be well worth it anyway
Ok, here's the best I could do. This is a pic of the Tundra interior from the Toyota website. Looks like my initial guesstimate as to howthecenter headrest/shoulder beltcould be done was pretty spot on. Goes to show you this isn't rocket science. Yet somehow these little things get left out.
