I've always wanted to own one of those, and host a radio show out of it.

 

They now are offering a gas engine; however, this is obviously a German idea. The gas engine is a 3.5L Mercedes V6. A V6 will feel underpowered, they should offera Hemi.My otherquestion is why they won't use a less expensive more powerful Chrysler 4.0L V6.

 

I think they are the ugliest vans on the face of the planet. Never in a million, trillion, gazillion years will I ever buy one... They look so tall that they would tip over at the slightest jerk!

V6 is more economical for businesses. Hemi should be offered though as well as the diesel.

I'll agree, it looks weird. Same thing when the Gen 1 Sprinters came out, but the more I saw them the more "normal" they seemed.
But ya know what: its very economical. And businesses (thepeople buying these)love that.
Relatively low-maintenance. It has plenty of interior space (I'd be able to fully stand up in the tallest '07 model, something I can't do in like any other vehicle, I'd of been about 2 inches too tall for the '06 version), and can haul pretty much the same pounds as the comparative E-series (Ford) and Savanna/Express (GMC/Chevy), while gettingclose todouble the mileage. The '06s could manage 25MPG+.
Dodge got the Sprinter right, and their selling relitively well I hear.

 

2007 MercedesDodge spinter. In my opion, why the sprinter is better than the competion. 1) Fuel efficient diesel motor. 2006 and older has the 2.7L crd and 2007 on newer should have the new V-6 3.0L crd 154hp 280lb-ft + 3.5L 254hp 250lb-ft. The new V-6 3.0L diesel puts out more power than the 2.7L crd but it also offers less fuel mileage. Even though the 3.0Lcrd is derated from the normal output 376lb-ft and a wide variety of HP ratings depending on vehicle. Most chrysler's use the 218hp version.
One reason this van will not be too unstable. Mega roof 84" inside space you have standard electronic stability control.
One reason they do not put a chrysler motor in this vehicle is 1) that cost money to re-engineer, crash test etc... VW does it though. VW also takes the sprinter and remotors + tansmission and renose.
One of the biggest improvements I think is " Sprinter for 2007 is a thoroughly revised dash that includes a standard driver-facing steering wheel, replacing the old school bus-style wheel that pointed skyward."

GM has a new VM 3.0crd modified by GM to be 2.9Lcrd for caddillac thatis one better thanthe MB 3.0Lcrd away for stock HP and lb-ft. 250hp 406lb-ft. The MB 3.0L crd does have after market chips that does raise it to and past this level. As for the GM VM 2.9Lcrd, it's only for European sales for cadillac. What a shame and waste. Why not use it for the H3, truck & vans 1500 & 2500, impala, & midsize pickups?

As for sprinter looks. I'm ok with it. No worse than dodge minivans '90-2007. Maybe slighly better looking than the 2008 minivan.
