Original Owner Unrestored or Altered '71 Dodge Challenger Value?
Hi, I am definitely a newbie.[sm=deal.gif] My parents bought a '71 dodge challenger (metallic bronze/brown -with a slant 6 engine, auto, slapstick, with console) back in 1971 and my dad drove it around town for a few years, then my sister, and then me. After I drove it for a few years and had a minor accident to the passenger side rear quarter panel [sm=gears.gif]and Istopped driving it and it has been left sitting for over 15 years. My father passed away 1.5 years ago. A neighbor's friend has been hounding us to sell to him (he is obsessed) and he has said it has been well preserved due to being on the pavement and in the shade. He offered us $5000 and I turned it down.[sm=smiley21.gif] My niece wanted to sell it and pocket the money[:@]. I am the last registered owner and think my mother should be the one that benefits from the car and gets the money from the sale - I want to get her the best price possible as I think & feel she deserves it[sm=goodidea.gif]. So, I am a bit out of our league as to the value of the car and what we should sell it for.
I am taking photos of the car tomorrow as I know how important pics are here from reading a few entries. Just wondering if anyone out there could give me some guidance please.[sm=thanx.gif] P.S. I love these smiley things!

It's a bit hard to put a price tag on it without pictures, but $5k is too low for any E-body! They are the poster-child for overpriced muscle cars. Mine's in the middle of a restoration and in a thousand pieces and I wouldn't entertain anything less than $30k. I'd suggest checking the collector car websites as well as eBay to see what something comparable might be going for. If you can't find anything similar, go to www.cudachallenger.com and ask around. Since it is a forum dedecated solely to E-bodies, there's sure to be someone who can guide you in the right direction or perhaps want to buy it from you.
Thank you for your replies. Here are a few pictures of the car.

This car has 52804 miles and I found out it has a 904 light duty torqueflite auto transmission. Any info would be appreciated. I have additional photos other than what is posted. Thanks
Neat car. I agree w/ crcarch about checking around more. The two-tone interior is interesting too. IMO I would go down the "survivor" route as opposed to altering. But someone may be interested in dropping a v-8 in it...up to you
After looking at the pictures, I'm sure you can get $10k and up for it. It appears to be complete, original and straight. Adding to that is the fact that it's relatively rare, you can almost name your price.
