If you get the Pantera get the speedo fixed, I have an old issue of Road & Track where they have a big write up on the Pantera and both versions speedos are off. The lesser version is only off by a little, but the really good version, I think it's a GTS or something like that, is way off especially at the higher speeds (it's off by as much if not more than 20 MPH at the higher speeds 100+ MPH), but at least it's off in the safe direction, it show your going faster than what you actually are.

God I love the 426 Hemi's.[sm=smiley27.gif][sm=smiley31.gif][sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley4.gif][sm=smiley2.gif] That's a nice one you've got there.[sm=smiley20.gif] Here's a couple pics of my dads Hemi, it's a '68 426 Hemi that's built to 630+ horsepower and it's in a '74 Barracuda:

Thanks for the tip RR, the original engine in the Pantera has been yanked out and a 73 Trans-am SD motor has been installed..:-(
Currently the Pantera overheats a lot, this is one of many problems with them. I need to figure out the reason for this heat. It has a lot of potential but I also need to consider the $$$ to fix. Your dads Cuda looks sharp! especialy with the lighter weight bumper. I had a 73 cuda with 340-six Pack that I raced for a while. Cuda's have great styling, the AAR hood and the front fender gills (71) inspired a lot of other cars designs some of which are still evident today almost 40 years latter!.
Thanks for sharing your pics.

Regards,

Napoli

No problem. His Cuda also has fiberglass fenders to help lighten it up even more.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]

RR, has you dad weighed the Cuda with the Hemi in it? Also you mentioned that the Hemi has over 600HP what mods has your dad done to it. I am thinking about a roller rocker set-up for the Hemi but frankly its got so much Torque right now and I want to keep it streetable as much as possible. It fires up quicker than my small block and thank God is very dependable and idles well too. I have thought about placing the corss ram intake on it but I am worried that the dependability might fade....

The engine was built by the previous owner or I should say the previous owner had built by a local speed shop. The parts breakdown and dyno sheet came with it and it dynoed at 630 HP and it has had a few minor things done to it since.

I would go through with the rooler rockers, it will free up horsepower, reduce friction and wear and it will allow the engine to rev quicker. I personally would go with the Crane Cams Gold race extruded billet aluminum roller rockers, they're $350 a set. I would also get a good roller cam and lifter set for it as well, then it will wind up so incredibly fast when you hit the gas that it will seem like a top fuel dragster engine.

Good points on the roller rocker/cam especialy on the big difference on differences it makes to the Hemi's performance.
My pistons are 10.5:1 and that way I loose out a bit (verses 11:1) but the streetability of the car is important to me. I have a traction issue with both of my challengers that I need to do something about. Its a combination of bad take-off from my part and the weight ratio (front to back) on the Challenger. I bought a multi linkage traction syetem that I plan to place on 71. It allows for adjustment and fine tunning for cornering while providing better traction I just need to put it on the car.

That reminds me, they will also improve fuel mileage as well. And the reduced friction will also lower operating temperatures.

Fuel millage is less of an issue, however the lower friction is realy cool! Where did you see them for the price you quoted earlier?
