Default 68 & 69 Charger R/T

Hi all,

I'm new here and live in the UK so excuse my ignorance of everything US muscle car.

I work for a computer game company and we are currently developing a computer game to feature of many cars a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum and a 426 HEMI. First of all I jave a few questions regarding both cars.

1/ Are there any external differences to both cars? Badges, colours etc.
2/ I have seen two configaration of stripes on the back of the Charger. I have seen one bold stripe and one with two thinner stripes. Which one is correct if either is correct? Is one more popular than the other?

The final thing to ask is, has anybody got any good photogrpahs of a 1968 Charger. Be it there own or somebody elses we do not mind. The photos will be treated confidentially and only used as reference for our modelling. If you want to go the whole way you could take the photos frsh, we don't mind as oing as you don't

The same question for the 69 models as well.

We can offer a credit in the game and booklet for anybody that cares to help.

What also would be helpful is to maybe point me in the direction of other Charger websites that could maybe help as I seem to get the impression this forum is mainly aimed at modenr Dodge's.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to your replies (if I get any).

Alan

1) HEMI badges on the doors is the only external clue.
2) Correct stripes are the two parallel ones running around the tail.

Best all around classic Dodge Charger forum is: http://www.dodgecharger.com/

A few pics of '68 R/T's.

Is the 69 440 Magnum and 69 426 HEMI marked out by onlt the HEMI badge on the door as well?

Also the 69 has the thick stripe on the rear doesnt it?

Correct on both counts. In '69 & '70, the tail stripe was the large wide single type with two small parallel stripes running along it, one each in front and back.

The '68 and '69 Charger R/T's have the R/T badges in various places. To see the emblems and decals you can check out http://www.yearone.com and click on the 66-74 Mopar B/E link under the shop list on the left. The '68 has the R/T emblem in the grill on the driver side headlight door and on the rear. The dual stripes around the rear are correct for the '68 only. The '69 R/T has the R/T emblem in the grill on the driver side headlight door and on the rear just like the '68 except the rear only has room for the R/T in the center where the '68 has both Charger and R/T. The stripe around the rear is completely different, it is a solid single stripe with R/T in it and it has a single thin pin stripe on each side of the stripe. Both, when equipped with the 426 Hemi, have the Hemi badge on the doors between the indentations/scoops.

Here are some pictures of both, first is the '68 R/T emblems and stripe followed by the '69 R/T emblems and stripe (Hemi emblem for both shown last):

I'm back again but wanting to know what colors the 1969 Charger 440 Magnum R/T was available in? And would these be the same colors the 426 HEMI was available in?

Any links to images of the various colors would be gratefully received.

a good muscle car forum would be www.moparts.com. is their anyway that you can email me or post a finished product that we can fine tune and point out any details you might have missed. i have a sheet of paper around here somewhere that has all the paint codes and names on it for that year.
