Had her out yet? I bet she's jealous of the SRT-4...

Sorry for taking so long to reply! Been working on raising a friends roof.(one mess after another).Anyway for 3 yrs. they look pretty good!! I had a 78 ford pick-up about 6 yrs. back, and put a new carb on. During test runs the carb was a little lean. It was about 9:30 Pm. and those babys were GLOWING RED!!! I was impressed when they cooled down they went right back. The steering on the beep tells the hole nightmare! But I'm sure it's better w/ the headers(Hp. is always fun!). Going w/ dyno-max on the coronet too.

Thanks! I haven't had it out yet, but the SRT-4 will be going in for some much needed TLC (oil change, nose blemish, windshield trim that's loose and 2 window switch lights are out). I will insist that they give me a Mopar to drive regardless what it is. It will probably be gone for a week, so I'm sure I will get the Roadrunner out at some point. God I hate to see what it's going to cost to fill it up, 21 gallon tank + $4.499 a gallon for 110 octane CAM2 leaded race gas = [sm=smiley3.gif][sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley7.gif][sm=smiley19.gif][sm=smiley11.gif]

Looks good 71, wow you must have built some compression into that bad boy running race gas!

Actually, I bought it from someone as an already built motor. It was supose to be a stock Magnum/Super Commando power output 375 horsepower, but when I got it put in it was nothing but problems. It was supose to be .030 over with lower 9:1 compression with 2 steps hotter cam to bring the power back up to where it should be. First off was the carburator, it was the same 870 CFM Carter AVS that I had on the 400 that was in it when I bought it. I had rebuilt it a couple months prior to the engine swap, it needed new floats as the old ones had developed holes, and it ran perfectly fine afterwards. On the 440 it would not idle at all, unless it was set at 1,500+ RPM. The guy that did the swap must have f'd up my Carter somehow, I still need to open it up again and see whats wrong. I bought a new Holley 750 double pumper, I would have gone with an 850 but I had read a comparison article in which the 750 performed the same if not better than the 850 when the choke plate was removed, and since the car will not start with the use of the choke it wasn't a problem for me to remove it. Now it runs fine, but not on pump premium. On pump premium it will spark knock even at moderate throttle. Even after tinkering with both the carb and the timing, nothing would eliminate the spark knock. Nothing that is but higher octane gas in the 100 octane or better range. And since both the 100 and 110 are the same price, I simply get the 110 to stay on the safe side. Something tells me it's a bit more than 9:1 compression and the cam has a pretty nice lope to it as well.

Then when I replaced the entire exhaust which was stock, it felt like it gained around 50 WHP. The stock 383/440/426 exhausts are pretty free flowing for factory, but it was holding back quite a bit on this motor, it was a night and day difference. I put on a set of Dynomax caramic coated headers with Tube Technologies 3" dual aluminized exhaust with H-pipe and Flowmaster 50 series mufflers, so it is a full dual 3" exhaust from the headers back. It's running as good as it can right now.[sm=smiley4.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=exactly.gif]

Cool, sounds like it's gonna be an animal! You don't happen to know the cam specs do you?

Very nice![sm=smiley20.gif] I also like how you did the battery ground, half painted, to keep it having the original factory look.
