- SRT-tuned 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI® gives Dodge Magnum 85 additional horses, a 25 percent increase in power
- "Dodge Magnum on steroids" hauls in more ways than one
- SRT Performance: 0-60 mph in low 5-second range, 0-100-0 mph in mid 16-second range, 60-0 mph in approximately 110 feet
There is no rule that says you have to give up utility for high performance. But if there were such a rule, the all-new 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 would break it.
"Dodge Magnum is bold, powerful, street-smart and full of life," said Darryl Jackson, Vice President—Dodge Marketing. "With a 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI® engine up front, and 71.6 square feet of cargo space in the rear, the 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 hauls in more ways than one.
"At Dodge, the HEMI continues to resonate with our customers," added Jackson. "The current take-rate for HEMI in the Dodge Magnum is 43 percent. The new SRT 6.1-liter HEMI quenches the thirst for even more power."
Street and Racing Technology (SRT) engineers began with a solid foundation—the 2006 Dodge Magnum—and successfully injected SRT DNA in order to produce a vehicle that can cover a quarter mile in the high 13-second range and haul home a brand-new 27-inch TV.
"From the day it was introduced, the Dodge Magnum screamed performance," said Dan Knott, Director, Street and Racing Technology, Chrysler Group. "Now, SRT engineering and the 6.1-liter HEMI will take Magnum to the next level."
The 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 offers key SRT attributes in ride and handling across a dynamic range, benchmark braking, performance-inspired interior appointments and exterior styling, as well as the raw performance of SRT's big-bore version of the HEMI engine.
Performance numbers for the all-new 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 include a 0-60 mph time in the low 5-second range and 60-0 mph braking in approximately 110 feet. Capable of covering a quarter-mile in the high 13-second range, the Dodge Magnum SRT8 can accomplish SRT's signature performance test of 0-100-0 mph in the mid 16-second range.

Amanda, Call the Magnum SRT-8 beautiful, powerful, whateverful but PLEASE!!! ...do not call it American! When a German company makes a car in Canada with a Mexican engine, that does not make it American. thnx!
Stand down ...if youre SO unhappy with DCX...you are a bit out of place at a DODGE ENTHUSIASTS forum.
now, with the Children put to bed...
i think the magnum is a gorgeous wagon...the rental i had was only a 2.7, but aside from being underpowered, it was a very nice American car. ive driven the RT, but it was a very limited drive, not much chance to really thrash it. however, I am not currently in the market for a station wagon, but if i were to be looking into cars of that sort, id much rather have the magnum RT over and minivan any day...it is a Gorgeous Amrerican car...

Gotta wonder what something like that will cost. The Magnum would be the only car I'd consider< I suppose, if I had to buy another new car.
Boom, Boom, Boom. I hear the beat of the union drum.
I gotta agree with BadStratRT, Danko. You guys gotta get over this crap. You don't like the company or your job? Go find another one.

Ya'll are confused! This has nothing to do with any job. This has everything to do with being a proud American and the Magnum is not American no matter how many members of any forum say it is. How in Hell can any of you suggest a Canadian car with a Mexican motor made and sold by a German company is American? I have bought many more Dodges, Plymouths, Chryslers and even an Imperial than anyone here and most of them were American but the Magnum, which is a very nice vehicle, is NOT American. No, I will not continue with this and ya'll can banter on as much as you want, but that does not make it what it is not.

It's a shame that you have such a narrow view.
All the way back to America's earliest roots, offshore labour has been used when it suits American business to gain profits to do so - slave (mainly African) labour being a glaring example.
It's the ongoing American way: use what's needed where available: oil, immigrants, raw materials: if you don't like it move elsewhere 'cause it's been American since the start!
The Magnum/300c product is a symphony of some of the best engineering from around the world, including much American, does it look like a foreign car to you?- Many American jobs are dependant upon the Magnum/300c success, not counting the benefit of the US public being able to obtain the cars at an absolute bargain price. Would you prefer that the Magnum/300c DC engineers kept their heads in the sand and ignored what is in the best interests of the company and the purchasing drivers.
Brilliant engineering particularly in the joining of the amazing new Hemi to the MB drivetrain - much much superior package to the recent past efforts and you're whingeing about it?
Keep the parochial attitude, quit your political whining on this forum, join another political forum where they might be interested in your comments, and face the reality of the modern world!

Let's all play nice fella's...
Thank you...
Danko - As I've stated before, it's got a Dodge Badge on it... it's American to me. There are no longer borders when it comes to corporations... Toyota's are built in the USA more then some Dodges... but that doesn't make Toyota an American brand... where your roots come from is what I care about. Dodge's roots come from the USA... The Magnum is American to me. Yes, it's got some German engineering and parts may be built outside of the US, but it all boils down to who's marketing it... Dodge... an AMERICAN brand.
Opinions aren't something that you can expect to push on others... we all have our own opinions. My opinion is that if it says Dodge... it's American... even back when... like the Avenger... almost entirely Mitsubishi "bred"... Dodge badging... it's STILL American to me.
