I got a call from the local Dodge dealer where I have visited and left my name so they can call when the SRT8's arrive. They called me yesterday to see if I wanted to test drive the car. They have two, one black, one red. All of a sudden she breaks out and tells me they will be selling 20,000 to 25,000 over sticker. I replied I don't even like to pay MSRP for anything. This is a ridiculous amount and I'm wondering whether or not I was hearing things. I'm sure they will sell over MSRP, but not that much. Has anyone heard of this from their dealer? Let me know. RAY.

 

You've got to be kidding me? 20k over sticker, you can't even get that on high end sportscars like the Viper. Good luck Ray finding one, maybe a visit in person or going to another dealership may help.

its because no one wants the viper...so they cant mark it up that much..on the other hand, the new srt8s are in high demand, so some places may want that much. my advice, check around for more desolate area dodge dealerships...if you find one in the middle of no where, they would be happy to move an SRT8, so they likely wont gouge you like this.

 

I'll take the test drive. Crazy if I don't, but will give them that crazy look if they tell me anything over MSRP. I'm a patient guy and will just wait until the hype has calmed. RAY.

 

Definitely take a test drive--lots of fun! I am paying invoice for my Mag SRT-8; had to do some searching for it.

I don't know what the Magnums are going for, but it seems that the Charger is getting a lot of the attention here. I'm going to check another dealer out on my way to my afternoon job. I'll let you all know what they are selling the Charger SRT8's for. Hopefully, they won't have a markup. RAY.

 

I just picked up my silver srt 8 one week ago. I ordered one in Oct. for MSRP. As it has not been built yet Orange Coast Dodge in Costa Mesa, CA offered me one he had just received which had all options for $400 under MSRP to help him meet his closeout monthly quota. Well, I did go to two dealers yesterday. One just sold the only SRT8 Charger the same day it came in. He told me he sold it for 45,000. It was loaded. Then I went to the other dealer that called me and told me about the markup. When I arrived they had two SRT8 Chargers and a couple of SRT8 Magnums. On the windsheild it read $10,000 markup due to market value. Told them they were crazy, that I would get it at MSRP, and walked away. But looking at them in the showroom made me want to just camp out inside the car all night. So sweet.

I'll go back to the other dealer and just place my order sometime next week. It doesn't matter how long I will have to wait cause I'm in no hurry for the car. RAY.
