Charger SRT-8 That thing got a Hemi? Indeed, a 6.1L Hemi that is. The Dodge Charger SRT-8 pounds the pavement with severe power.

Default Winter driveability

Hey all!

My shiny, black Charger SRT-8 arrives sometime later this week via a train from Ottawa. Since I live in Southern Alberta, I'm somewhat concerned with the winter driveability of this car (it is shod in the Goodyear F1 tires). My main question is, will I be able to drive it without a high-risk of crashing it?

I've been trying to track down a set of winter tires, but have had bad luck so far. The only winter tires I found were the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow in a 255/45/20...unfortunately Pirelli is completely out of stock for these suckers! Does anybody know of another compatible winter tire?

Hello Dartman69,

Did you get any response to your tire enquirey?

I am looking for information on the minimum rim size that works with the SRT8's, so that I can fit my new SRT8 Magnum with winter rims and tires (car is due to arrive later this week). Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Smaller rims will open the opportunity for more tire options and reduce cost.

Once I have my car, I can remove the rims and take some measurements... I will let you know what I find out from my end.

Not if you maintain the overall diameter.... smaller rim requires a higher profile tire.

I live in Minnesota and I have had no issues at all with my SRT8. The traction control is great, but the only thing you should be mindful is of pulling out from a stop on slippery surfaces...

The ESP will sense loss of traction and cut your throttle which can leave you sitting in the middle of a road with oncoming traffic. Easy solution:

Autostick to 2nd gear, turn off ESP fully. Now you can pull out like every other car on the road. Make sure you put your ESP back on afterwards though... it can be a lifesaver!

I know I posted once before on this subject. The SRT-8's can be ordered with factory All-Season tires. Same size except you don't get the 255 tire on the back like you do with the performance Z rated tires.

Hello 06mnrt,

Your right about the EPS TCS switch. I am learning the feaures of my Magnum SRT8 and when you bypass these sytems and use the autostick WOW!!!!!!

Clark Kent to Superman transition in the overall performance and mannerisms of the car. Something the sales rep failed to demonstrate for me..... Had me grinning ear to ear all day.

Currently snowing like mad at home, just north of Toronto.... Goint to try out these systems and the all season tires in the snow....
