Sounds like you are making great progress. Good you ignored the advice to "just rebuild the motor". If I had a dollar for everybody who suggests that on other people's dollar, I could retire. They also throw around terms like "freshen the motor", whatever that means. You will probably like the cam in it. If you change, don't over-cam it unless you like an engine that sounds defective, idles like crap, gets terrible mileage, and pours out noxious fumes. Many prefer that "race car" sound ("lopey idle", "thumper", and other terms). Others like me think it is as stupid as putting a fart can on a Honda Civic. If you do want a big cam, look at Rhoads leaks-down lifters to make it idle well.

hey guys im not rebuilding the motor right now all I am doing is switching a four barrel intake and carb and updating the ignition system so the cam is staying for now and when I rebuild down the road the j heads will get cleaned up and go on and the cam will b changed
