I have some road tar that I am having problems getting off, now I know gasoline will take it off for sure, but that is a last resort. There is a lot of it due to the road work going on around my area.
I have gotten a 1.5 year old chunk of tar of with Meguiar's Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover. I soaked the tar with it, let it sit for a minute or two, and it wiped right off. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to re-wax the area when you are finished.
If they are smaller "speckles," you can clay the area as well.

any body solvent or adhesive remover or wd-40 will remove road tar. i wouldnt go the clay bar route as it will take forever. just remember, alot of the solvents and adhesive removers will remove any and all waxes.
Just to note as well, it may require multiple applications. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't come off the first application. Apply the next one and let it sit a little longer and keep repeating if necessary.
