Default Headlights work on high beam only

I'm new here today, got on because I just got a 2001 Cummins Ram 2500 and there are a couple of issues. One is the headlights only work when I pull the high beam switch. I currently have to run the fog lights only at night in traffic then switch to the high beams when I can.

Thanks guys, after removing the bulbs much to my surprise BOTH headlights had only the low beam filament burned in half. Pain in the *** to change (cut up my hands on the battery hangers- sharp!) but only had to replace the bulbs.

Unhappy 2001 2500 Cummins heater core

I am getting a radiator smell in the cab when the heat or defrost is on and it also gums up my windshield. Do you really have to pull the whole dash, steering wheel column, etc to get to the heater core? It looks like it should be accessible right there under the dash.

is the heater core leaking?

pull the blower motor out and inspect it...if it is, then yes you're going to be pulling the dash.

if its not leaking, then look for a leak under the hood.

I don't see any leaks under the hood so I will try dropping the blower next. Thanks!

Thanks! It's not too bad yet but that is easy enough. Someone also told me to ask you if it would be bad for my water system to try a radiator stop leak product, and if so, what brand would you recommend?
