I was pointed to this direction. want to put new wheel and tires on my 96 1500 club cab 4x4 and wonder what is the biggest and widest tire i can put on my truck using a 17” wheel instead of the stock 16” wheel. I was also wondering what’s back spacing I would need to fit the truck. The truck is stock ride height.

 

Generally, you can go an inch larger diameter, maybe two, and an inch wider, without interference. Check backspacing on 3rd gen Rams, they came stock with 17" rims, I think.....
