Default forum searches?

Ok, i'm new to the forum thing and have had great response to my questions about my vehicle. Rather then ask a question that has been answer before, i have tried to search the forum for the answer but i'm unable to do what i want.......i have a 96 2.5 abenger. So i look in the dodge avenger section, 1995-2000 section. I need to find out how to test iac, egr, and know what in the world running seafoam (sounds fishey lol) through my intake means. When i go to search forum and type egr i get no response. Bad venge has been great help and has posted numerous times how to check egr, iac. But i'm not sure how to find it?!?!? Is there a way to search for specific troubleshooting without asking the experts to constantly answer the same questions?

P.s. Happy halloween

Try Idle or stalls or Seafoam and the answer should be there

not really able to test iac without serious equipment , EGR is 90% of the trouble cleaning cures the iac most of the time , if the egrs blocked , intake and IAC cleaned still not idling replace

I got the iac off and it was filthy, should i be able to compress and extend it by hand? After i cleaned it i could no longer do this. Blocked the egr off as well just in case. And when i got the intake manifold gasket, it came with a bunch 1 in piticular looked like the pipe coming out of the intake that is to the left of the egr. I put that on as well but the bolt holes were a lil off. I modified it and put it on there, not sure if thats where it goes but it didnt have 1 so what could it hurt? Car starts right up without hitting the gas, check engine light went off and it doesn't sputter at 4500 rpms like it used to. Not sure which 1 was to blame but thanks for the info. I need to replace the valve cover gaskets do you know if they come with the orings for the plugs?

I'll be honest most do , but some don't you have to ask , or open the package at the store , Napa and advanced both did ( I bought those) use gasket adhesive to glue the o rings in let them set up so you can flip them over

If you are curious remove the egr block off If the car still idles the cleaning the iac did it if it won't idle the egrs bad

Default iac

car started running low idle again, i pulled the plug from the iac and no change, went and got a new 1 from autoparts and put it in the car ran at like 3000-4000 rpms!?!?!?!!? I backed the idle screw all the way out and it changed nothing. is there a way to adjust the new iac? the new one has a rubber covering the spring but the old 1 u can see the spring will that do anything?

Are you sure the butterfly is closing correctly ?
the throttle cable may be misadjusted

not sure on the throttle cable but it has slack so it wouldn't cause the high rpm's plus it doesnt do it with the original iac in. the new iac came with a small sheet of paper printed in a foreign language. it looks like it has to be adjusted to under 1in and a 8th which i did but the car runs like poop. when i unplugg the iac it runs the same so im going to get one from the junkyard that seems to be the best thing going well for me. not sure why but my main fan still has yet to come on and my temp guage never goes above halfway. the 4500 rpm sputter has returned. which is the map sensor according to the code it throws, but if i shut the car off and turn it right back on it runs stops the sputter??????
