Default New speakers in the Caliber...

I want to get some new speakers from crutch field. I want to be able to just put some in and not have to change the head unit. What are you guys using?

You don't have to change the headunit to put speakers in, its just recomended that you do because the sound quality will be better. I havn't really looked at the speakers in my parents r/t but I do beleive that claibers just have 4 6.5's??

If so then I would stick to one company for all 4 speakers, I recomend getting mtx 6001 components for the front and mtx 6001 seperates for the rear, if you want you can just get 4 of the components so you can get more of the surround sound with 4 tweeters.

Have fun,

The Caliber has a spot at the base of both "A"
pillars for a 3" tweeter.I have not checked but
an owner on another forum posted that the
wiring for the tweeters was already installed
even if the speakers are not.Remove the "A"
pillar covers and the front pice of the dash
can be pried up and out.

Mine has 6x9's in the doors I think. I would suggest Infinity Reference series. They sound good. I installed a set of their 3.5 speakers in the dash of my 08 Ram.
The Caliber has 9 speakers, 2 in the dash, 1 in each of the 4 doors, 2 in the hatch and a sub woofer in the passenger rear panel in the cargo area. When I looked into the speaker holes in the front doors, my 09 has 6x9's. I would assume that the standard 4 speaker system does too.

Maybe the new calibers or calibers with the upgraded sound package has 6x9's but my parents 07 r/t has 4 6.5's.

This is very easy. If you want to buy for crutchfield all you have to do is put your car info and it will list all speakers that will fit. for my 08 - 4 6x9's. This will come with a adapter that is plug and play. You dont even have to take the door off, just the cover to the speakers.

Now for my '08 I went with Infinity, very clear sound. It will really depends if you are going to change your head unit at a later time. If NO then just get some 2 ways, any name brand will do. If you are going to change it later then you'll want something better. I went with the Kappas. They are a single unit with crossovers for mids and highs. They SCEAM!

I took out the A pillar and dash in vain. There was no wire for tweeters and the hole is smaller than 3". I was disapointed.

Check out my pictures of new head unit.

I bought a pair of Kappa's for my 08 Ram, but the baskets were too big and wouldn't fit in the holes in the doors. I don't want to alter the sheet metal so I had to send them back. They did sound good.

The Kappas are awesome. For fit I did not change the front, the 3-ways would not go. I am pushing them with 150 watts and they are very clear and loud. The supplied cross over makes them worth the money, IMO.
