Your radio will need that bypass part for the radio to work, however the price that that is at is high.

I had my Radio Installed at Circuit City and the bypass harness was only $24. The only thing was that the radio doesn't do that stay on till the door is open thing, but I didn't care. I shut the car off, I want everything to shut off.

Your stock radio is tied into your computer and that is why you need that part.

If you already have the mounting kit, and wire harness, I'd just take it to Best Buy and let them finish the install. They will have the bypass harness. Best Buy charges $50 for a head unit install plus parts. If you don't get that part, you may end up with the CEL being on because it doesn't see the radio.

im having a problem from my local best buy were they cant seem to install it right. The problem im having with their harness is that my factory speakers work occasionall y not all the time with an aftermarket kenwood unit. The last post said something about an extra bypass harness of 24$....what exactly am i bypassing with that? anyione else having this same problem with an aftermarket head unit? i did buy the best buy harness of 124$ but that is still not working properly.

The harness mentioned above, fools the computer into thinking the stock radio is there and takes away the computer control of the head unit.
Do you have other speakers hooked up as well? Do they always work? Sounds like maybe you got a had harness that may have a bad connection or wire somewhere.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum.

i do have two alpine sub woofers and an amp connected to the headunit, but no extra speakers, just the oem 9 speakers from the car. my local best buy dosnt know anything about a bypass harness. do you have any links of where i can buy iyt and what exactly is it bypassing? they tried installing another wire harness behind the aftermarket headunit but no help still does the same thing. im guessing i need this extra bypass harness?
