Blinking ETC Light = No Power
While driving through the NC Mountains yesterday the ETC light began blinking... I lost power & had little driving power. When parked & idolling it was worse. Sounded as the bottom was about to fall out. I had to pull over, the car was barely moving. I turned off. Made phone calls for help and sat awhile. The owners manual said I needed immediate tow. On a whim I tried to start my car. It started up & drove me home as if I had no problem. That's just nuts!
I've read it could be related to the change in altitude. My o2 levels could have thrown it off a bit. That's not cool either. Is this or could this be related to the recalls I've seen in the news this past month?
I've got 74k miles on my '07 Caliber. Is this a racket of sorts... a problem everyone is going to have with their Calibers?

The PCM saw a problem and went into limp mode which is what it is Supposed to do so you don't have a Toyota issue and the car run away!! There is a stored code in the system which you will need to scan for and find out why this happened.
following up- I did take to dodge dealership in Spartanburg. Charged me $80 to tell me I had unplugged the battery. I hadn't! They claimed to have re-calibrated and gave my car a clean bill of health. Never- EVER - will I go back to them! This wasn't the first time they were inadequate
6 days later while on vacation in PA- it happened again. Car limp wouldn't go over 20 mph etc... The ETC light reset itself, but didn't change this time. Got it to the Dodge dealership again. This time these people seem to know what was going on. Took them about 3 hours & yes they didn have to replace the ET, just under $400. Put quite a damper on the vacation.

It's amazing that some dealers can stay in business with service like that. I just spent my out of town vacation in the hospital with a nasty intestinal virus. I guess we both had bad trips!!
Zurich, my warranty company (purchased with Dodge at the time of sale) refuses to pay for the ETC throttle body. Their representative who denied the claim states the loss of power (limp mode) the week prior is not related to same problem I had the following week. The car went limp again, wouldn't reset and led to the replacement of the ETC throttle body. My common sense says duh huh- In my eyes they are exactly related & I got shotty help the first time. Anyone got info on where I can prove to the man that the two issues are one in the same and are related? Good grief.....
