Default P0445 and P0446 code help

I have a 2007 dodge caliber with the 2.4L 4 cyl motor. It is idling at aroung 1500 rpm. it has around 66k on it. I scanned the codes and it came up with the 445 and 446. Should i replace the canister purge valve or be looking into the wiring harness to it? Where is it located exactly?

I would start with the gas cap. This is usually 99% of the 445 code. It doesn't seal properly ad causes the massive pressure loss code.

A code P0446 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

* Faulty vent valve
* Open, short or excessive resistance on Vent valve control circuit
* Blockage of vent valve
* Bad PCM

I would replace the gas cap first, reset the codes and see what happens. It's the cheapest route.

We have replaced the gas cap about 6 months ago when we got an evap code for a small leak. Codes were erased and haven't came back on since. This came on Friday. I don't understand why it would make the vehicle idle high

Not sure either, unless there is enough extra air being drawn in to cause the high idle.

I believe that the valve is at the canister near the fuel tank.
Download this free service manual and it will be quite helpful.
