Default AC Compressor?

My Caliber is making an awful sound like it is coming from the alternator. I just had that replaced and took it back to the dealership to have it checked, they said the alternator was fine, and said the compressor was the one making the noise. It started with a whining or grinding sound, that increased with acceleration, but now it has changed into a knocking or clicking sound...should I have the alternator checked again or could it really be the ac compressor...

My dear that sound i'm sure it is alternator because i am having same vehicle (Dodge Caliber 2007 ) and i replaced the alternator 2 times since i bought the vehicle because the dealer told me that there is problem in this model.(Defect in manufacturing)

first time when i took it to the carage they replaced all bearings but no benefits and they checked compressor and it was ok
i took it to the dealer they change the alternator and the sound disappear >

again the sound appear after 3 years immediately i change the alternator and the problem solved...

(the company must indemnity because there isDefect in manufacturing)
my regards
