Default 2011 Caliber fan is not working

Hello!! I am new to the forum. I am a Dodge lover!! I have owned my 2011 Caliber for less than a month and have driven from Columbia, SC to Roanoke, VA with no issue. Today, sensor said that it was hot while I was at a traffic light. I pulled over, put water in it and continued. 2 miles later, it did it again. I asked a stranger for help. He asked me if my A.C. was cold. It was. All the fluids were full. He said that my fan was not working.
Nothing about my handling of the vehicle changed. So I don't understand why the fan just isn't working. Now? It won't start. Can someone give me some idea of what is happening? Thank u in advance!

I am guessing that you checked the fuse in the power distribution box under the hood!

No, I didnt check for fuses. I am not a mechanic. So my neighbor had it towed to one down the road. The mechanic said that the engine overheated and needs to be replaced. I'm shocked becuz it happened sooo quickly! I dont have another vehicle and I put every I had into this one. So I have NO choice but to get it repaired. We found a used engine for it. Im just REALLY disappointed....*shrugs*

Yep. You cooked the engine.
