Not much, but...

The April 2006 Motor trend magazine issue (pg 88) says that a 5-speed will be offered for the 2.4L Caliber R/T, by the summer.

 

Now all they need to do is get the all wheel drive into the SRT-4 version...is it now gonna be an option, standard on the R/T over the CVT, or vice versa??

 

All it says is "it will be offered". So, I couldn't tell you...

 

Unfortunately, the only information that has been provided at this time is the Dodge Caliber R/T AWD has the Continuously Variable Transaxle 2 (CVT2) with autostick. No word regarding a 5-speed manual on the R/T model.
I will keep you posted if the option does become available ...

No, there is no available manual transmission for the R/T Caliber.

 

Right... there is no 5 speed available now... But Motortrend suggests it will be here "by the summer". Never said it was on there now...

 

Motor Trend likes to reach a little sometimes. I will be extremely surprised to ever see a manual transmission in an R/T with the 2.4L. Motor Trend is too busy reading their Toyota and Honda "OWNERS MANUALS." If it ain't an import, they hate it.

 

Add Consumer Reports to the list. I have yet to see them have anything good to say about Chrysler, Ford, or GM vehicles no matter what they do. Some of their reviews and opinions are just rediculious. I wouldn't be surprised to see them talk down the Dodge Caliber.

 

If you have a Caliber brochure and you go to the "Caliber Buyer's Guide" page you will see that there is listed under that 1.8L and 2.0L:

Doesn't seem to be listed for the AWD version though...if that is what you were asking, only FWD late.
