larger wheels for SE?
i recently bought an SE (caliber). with 15 inch wheels. I drove around and saw some SXT's on another lot with larger wheels. The looks are dramatically improved with the larger wheels. Is there a way to upgade my SE with larger wheels?
If you were gonna do that then I would have opted for the SXT model with the 17" Aluminum wheels. You would have only been spending just a little bit more depending on what options you got in your SE. Anyways, you can more than likely do it, but you may have to have the speedometer re-calibrated for the larger wheels. People are selling those 17" Aluminum wheels all over the place. eBay would be a great place to start, or in the marketplace of this forum, and other forums.
I agree, Keep watching E-bay. I just saw some on there last week. That would be the best deal if you are looking for stock wheels and tires.
Like 04Stratus R/T said though, different tire diameter will throw off your speedometer. I don't know if it will affect the CVT trans or not since it does not really shift anyways.
Try this to tell you what will happen to your speedometer with bigger tires.
On my Ram Truck, I replaced the factory 20 inch wheels with aftermarket 22 inch wheels. Then on the new wheels, I put a lower profile tire which ended up being the exact same diameter as the original factory setup so it did not change my speedometer at all.
I know most dealers will re-flash the pcm computer in your vehicle for a minimal charge to change the tire height to match. My dealer charges $40.00 for that service.

I've used this calculator before:

It's nice because you can play around with the different tire sizes and see which will fit best. It even shows the tire width too.

This is one car where the wheels make a huge differance. I've seen some Calibers with the smaller wheels and they just look off to me. Does you SE have a CVT?

Are the tires included? Also, what new rims did your old lady get you? Got pictures? Check out my sig...I bought these rims and tires for a car I don"t even have yet. Ordered 5/1 and still waiting...[&o]
Well they may have a lot of orders, but most them are sitting in the computer waiting on allocation so they can be put on the build schedule like mine was. Not all 48,000 orders are on the schedule to be built. Thats why Dodge does this allocation thing. The only thing that may slow it down is if the assembly line goes down for whatever reason, or something like that. If it goes into D status, that means that all of the parts required to build your car are available, otherwise it won't go into D status.
