Default Got an allocation!

Wooohoooo! Called the dealer and they said they got 3 allocations for this month and mine is at the top of the list. It should go into "D" Status very soon and according to the dealer should be on the truck for delivery by the end of this month or first week of July. So I should have the 2nd week in July. *Gets excited!*

BTW...anyone who is wondering, I asked my sales rep about ESP and if you ordered one before this past week you have what's called to DCX a 2006.5 model (even though its a 2007 Caliber on the sticker) and the ESP is a 2007 model feature. So the dealer would have to cancel your order and reorder the car using the 2007 order form. Then you will lose your place in line to get allocation and also he said that the price of the Caliber is going up a little so you also lose your 2006.5 price and would have to pay the 2007 price. He still can't order any Calibers for anyone right now but he said they're changing the computer systems over as fast as they can for the 2007 model year, so ordering can continue. So anyone who has been trying for the past week to order a Caliber, keep checking back with your local dealers and they should be able to resume ordering very shortly. This break up in the ordering is only a very temporary thing so like everyone else here who doesn't have theirs, you need to be very, very patient, or find one on the lot like you want.

I'm glad yours is on the way. I think DCX should address a few of the problems they have with this vehicle before they start jacking the price up or they may end up eating the GOLDEN EGG. If you know what I mean.

Its been two weeks since I las t enquired about my order, gonna call DC tomorrow. Last time I checked it was in BG status...orderd mine the same time you did so mine should be in "D" status as well. I tell you, this is my first experience ordering a car new, and I don't think I'd ever do it again. The thing is, back in April girlfriend and I planned to visit a friend down in Tampa Florida for 4Th of July, and we were going to drive down in my new car. Well, I'm leaning toward that its not gonna happen. My dealer still states I should have the car by the end of June. I don't think so...[&o]

Mahal, did you actually get an allocation from the dealer? Typically, it takes around 4 to 6 weeks once it goes into "D" Status. My current status is BX (Past Edit, Available for schedule) which is where its been since I first ordered it on May 1st. It should slip into D Status shortly and begin the building process. I would say its going to be very close as to whether or not you're gonna have it for your trip. I mean very close. I wouldn't be surprised if we both got them the week after the 4th of July. I'm just relieved that I got an allocation. I was beginning to think I'd have to wait until September or something before it was even going to be built.

Mahal, this kind of thing really only happens with a completely brand new car like the Caliber that is very well accepted. If you wanted to order a 2006 Dodge RAM, or 2006 Dodge Dakota of any model, the dealer wouldn't have any problem what so ever getting it on order and you'd have it in about 6 or 7 weeks. I ordered my 2002 Neon ES with Leather Seats, Anti-Lock Brakes, etc... and it only took 6 weeks to get in. I ordered it about the last week of October and I had it 2 weeks into December. Never had to worry about allocation or anything like that.

I suspect that later this summer when ordering for the new Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger (aka Stratus) becomes available, Caliber orders will cool off a little. Basically, right now, the Caliber is the ONLY new car Dodge is building right now. The Stratus/Sebring is no longer being built so what dealers have on the lot is what there is for the rest of the summer. So if no dealers have the Stratus/Sebring, or '05 Neon, you're only other choice for a car is the Caliber. This further tells the story about how poorly planned Daimler Chrysler did this. Basically, nobody has any Neon's left, a lot of dealers don't have any Stratus's or Sebring's left, and in parts of the US (such as the Northeast), Calibers are hard to come by. So its very tough for certain dealers right now. And of course, nobody wants a Dinosuar Durango, or Jeep Commander with $3+/gal gas prices.

Enough people want them that they'll pay a few extra dollars to get one. Some dealers are already selling the Calibers they have on the lot for as much as $2,000 over the stick price and people are still buying them.

Yes, I did get allocation for my Caliber and had the "BX" order status. By mid May, DC put my order into the "BG" staus for reasons unknown. DC wouldn't tell me as to why, but informed me to direct my questions to my dealership. Even my dealership couldnt tell me as to why they changed my order status. Theres one thing I really hate, and thats phone tag...[:@] Anyways, I left it at that. Just been calling DC to get updates. Now that its been a couple of weeks, I hope they have something better to tell me tomorrow!! Out of curiousity, where are you located 04statusR/T? I'm located in central Minnesota. So, I'm not too far from where my car is being built. What really sucks about where I live, is that I live about three blocks from my local Dc dealership. They have two Caliber SE's sitting by the road, testing my patience every day, as I drive to and from work, but with no choice of passing the dealer lot along the way...[&o]

I live in Upstate NY. The dealer I'm buying mine from has a Silver Caliber R/T with no options at all. I would buy that if it was a different color, and had the Connivence Group and MusicGate Sound System in it. Generally takes about 2 weeks to get an order to Upstate NY once its built. I'm not too terribly far away. If anyone wanted to, they could easily drive to Belvedere IL in one day. I just have to wait for a truck coming to my region, then for a truck to come some where around the dealer I bought it from.

We both have probably about a 6 to 8 week wait here. Chrysler may have 48,500 orders, but not all of them are currently being built. I would suspect that most of them are orders that are currently waiting allocation. Not all 48,000 orders are being crammed into the production line schedule at once. Also remember that customer orders almost always have higher priority over regular dealer stock orders. So for example, if your dealer got 3 allocations and 2 ahead of you are just stock orders for the lot and yours is the 3rd, your car should be built before the stock orders even though the stock orders were ordered weeks ahead of yours. Sold units are almost always built first.

Congrats 04StratusR/T! I'm glad the ball is finally rolling on your car. I know alot of you Caliber fans/owners have been dealing with a lot of crap over getting your cars.....so this is good news

mahal3680: The normal turn around on a new car is generally 4-8 weeks...depending on when you ordered it and what you ordered. The problem with the Caliber, like 04StratusR/T stated, is that is a totally spankin new car, not to mention that they released it early like a bunch of idiots. Had they waited until the 2007 release date, which would be right around now - next 30 days, they could have avoided all these ordering issues and screwups potentially. They also would have had less complaining and upset owners.

FYI - The Stratus/Sebring did see an 06 model......so there should still be some sitting on lots....but it did get discontinued this year....the Avenger/Sebring sedans should be on lots shortly heh....and your right, they did screw the big one on this....as not only did DC eliminate the Neon, the Stratus/Sebring coupes in 05, they also eliminated the Stratus/Sebring sedans in 06.....so that only leaves really the Caliber and the Charger/Magnum and the PT Cruiser for people to purchase.....at least purchasing for new cars.

OMG!!!!...I just got off the phone with DC, and they just informed me that my car has been built and is in transit to my dealership. This is awesome! 04stratusR/T, If I were you, I'd give DC a call today to get an update on your car! DC also informed me transit times are between 10 to 14 days, so I'll have my Caliber by the 19th...way too cool...[sm=icon_rock.gif]
