Default Question regarding guage illumination

So, here in northern minnnesota, the days are getting shorter, way sharter, and I will be driving in to work in the dark and home in the dark. So I have noticed the brightness of the guages is insane, it is like have three flashlights shinig directly in my eyes while i drive, i live in a rural area, so there isn't much ambient light to cancel this out. Is it just me? anyone else bothered by the amount of illumination coming from the guage? So i guess my question is, does anyone know of any aftermarket guages that will cut the illumination down or perhaps some less bright leds? Has anyone already fixed this problem?

Why don't you just turn the illumination down? You can do that by turning the middle dial on the turn signal stick. The illumination on my Caliber goes very dim if you turn the dial I think its toward you.

The gauges are too bright?! My first impression of the illumination gauges were that they were not bright enough. I also drive a 99' Dodge Ram, and the Calibers gauge lights don't even come close to being as bright as the Rams. I guess you must have really sensitive eyeballs...By the way, I'm from central MN!

Well, of course I turn them down, but that dims everything else as well, and is just inconvienent. It isn't like it is a deal breaker, just that it is annoying, poor design.

I've never seen a vehicle that doesn't dim everything else. I actually think that would be stupid for it not to. I don't really want some cup holders or center console dash lights blaring in my face at night either, let alone the gauges. If you want it the way you're thinking, Dodge would have to put 2 separate dimmers in there, making the car more complicated and/or more expensive to build. A $3.00 part adds up in a hurry when you're building 10,000+ Calibers per week. Man people are so freaking picky...

I dont mind the guages I dont find them too distracting either. But i do find myself having to adjust the brightness depending on the area im driving in.

I got tired of the caliber gauges so I customized some Nissan Skylines to fit in my dash
