Default AC system expansion valve

I had to replace my condensor back in December . I put a new Drier filter on at the same time and put one can of refrigerant in to keep system lubed til warmer weather. Well warmer weather is starting to arrive and went to finish charging the system, but it won't let me add anymore. My intuition (but i'm also very ignorant of AC systems) tells me that my expansion valve is stuck closed. Is there a way to force this to open to allow refrigerant into the rest of the system? My AC clutch seems to cycle fine.
One other question to anyone who might know. My old 97 GC had a dual zone AC system. If I needed to replace the compressor on my 97 single zone, would this compressor work? Thanks to any and all who can help.

One was 97GC front and rear dual zone and the one I might need to put it in is 97 without rear zone controlls. Old 97with dual had the extra condensor for the rear . I did list that they were both 97s in the paragraph.

My expansion valve went out and rear A/C was working front wasn't so wife ran it anyway. Boom goes the compressor! Not pretty. I'd unplug the compressor orfix it fast.

you might want to vac. the system down and start fresh. then add the right amount of oil and 134. you might have to jump the low switch to get it to start. alan

What is involved in jumping the low switch. The sytem was depressurized after hitting the deer and I did put 1 can of refrigerant in after the condensor/drier change. Do you know whether the compressor from the dual zone system will work should I need it. Both are 97's with 3.3l motors. Thanks in advance Turbomini.

I'm pretty sure when I bought my new compressor, the dealer told me they were the same. I would call them to "inquire" about a new one and see what they say.

Dual air take 2.88 lbs of freeon that would be 3 cans of 8oz or 1 lb each. Fallow the instructions on teh can if it goes low side or not.
