I just bought a 89' dodge grand caravan with a 3 speed auto trans. The trans. wouldn't shift out of first into second so I replaced the trans. fluid, filter, and gasket. Now the trans. will upshift but wont downshift. I have to use the shift lever to drop it down into first once I slow down. Any help in figuring out the reason for this would be truly appreciated. Thanks

 

It the same problem you had with other trans. The governor is sticking. You will to remove the governor and clean the bores and valves, or get another governor body and two valves.
